I feel personally that Ziggy is far too celebrated as being the ultimate Bowie. Yes, it was revolutionary but for me Bowie's Berlin experimental period of Low and Heroes was, is and always will be his most electrifying work. I find it terribly underrated. A live version of Beauty And The Beast, YES! I am so jealous of those at this TV gig for Musikladen, sigh * sigh * May i add, he was so dreamy during this period, what a handsome beautiful alien. It amazes me during the amazing version of Heroes in this set that David just stands there with his arms crossed but it's still so darn GLORIOUS. He didn't have to do anything except be, naturally charismatic beeeeyong. Bow Down + I love the Station To Station era as well and Stay is my very favourite track from the album. He had the FUNK layed down, oh yeah! I must also say that this band is darn gooooooooood, wowzers! And that Prophet 5 synth, beautiful *

@Carlos Medeiros - ’Twas a splendid decade, no doubt about it. And it’d be difficult to communicate how absolutely at the time it felt like everything would continue advancing, just nothing but progress from here on out. But then the 1980s happened, with Reagan and Thatcher dropping onto the world like two hundred-ton bricks. And now here we are. But it’s not too late. If you kids would just get offline and get away from the Russian bots, and would instead get together face-to-face and get organized, we could have a 2022-2047 that’d make 1954-1979 seem like a tame quarter-century!

One of the absolute greatest rock composers of all time at his zenith - doesn’t get much better than this. David appears modest and almost shy here, performing on German television - after restarting his career by leaving his super stardom status in the States behind 2 years earlier... He had just made two of rock musics most important albums, “Low” and “Heroes”, but they weren’t big commercial successes at this time. Artistically they were bulletproof though, and I think Bowie knew it. He obviously also knew that an artist has to have something to fight for to make it come alive - and that seems to be what’s happening here. It suits him... Miss you, David

I saw him perform at the Boston' Garden during the Isolar II tour 1978. His presence and absolute control over the audience was amazing. He would meander towards the front edge of the stage and as he approached, the entire audience on the floor in front of him about 15 rows deep would actually move to meet him, as if they were trying to get as close as they could, like a wheat field in the wind. He would slowly walk as he sang to either side of the stage and then the crowd on the lodge seats on the side of the stage was about 10 15 ft. high would lean into him as if to shake his hand. And at the same time, on the floor the crowd would lean and move in the same direction again as a wheat field in the wind. I've seen my share of concerts but nothing like that by any other performer ever again.

Fortunately, my late mother agreed to allow my brother and I to go to the concert. Thinking us too young to be by ourselves, she bought a ticket for herself.
