DAVID Bowie's life was extraordinary ! He took us on a his own musical journey ~ I love hearing his voice~ be it. . . when he speaks, ~ or be it . . . , when he sings, np matter what new song he put out there. I always knew . he would not disappoint me or anyone else, My 1st year of high school ,15 yrs young- grade 9- I heard the Star Man LP - I recall the lyrics being very Wow, and we all though Bowie must written the songs on acid, - Bowie was not one particular genre of music, , he was his own selective- group - His music was was not acid rock, or hard rock, He was David Bowie, the Star Man, Ground Controll to Major Tom - I LOVED BOWIE - I literally believed he fell to Earth from somewhere else,

@Charleybones

+David Prince Agreed. He really brings power to his guitar. I bought the first Tin Machine cd 26 years ago when it was first released. And like many, I was disappointed to hear that it didn't sound at all like Bowie's earlier stuff. A few songs grew on me for a few weeks, but that was it. Last year, I was bored with all my other cd's, I dropped it into my car cd player. Reeves guitar work immediately jumped out at me. I am a guitarist and didn't even notice how good it was back then. Reeves is absolutely up there with the best of them..
@dexterdog717

+Charleybones I think that the last group of musicians he had were (forgive me if I'm not using this word right) virtuoso level musicians. I guess that means the best of the best. Reeves, Mike Garson, Gail Ann Dorsey and some of the others from the 90's and early 2000s were some of the best in the world at what they did.

Bowie is ridiculously cool. No effort required by the man. Both Lou and David were putting out decent music around this time. "Ecstacy" is one of Lou's best solo albums IMHO. All I Wanna know is where's Iggy? Woulda been perfect if he'd crashed the party.

Handsome at 50, Handsome at 69. The world is running out of the folks who make memorable music. These days the bands come and go mimicking someone else’s sound, not earning their way into the world of music, these guys earned their recognition, forged the pace and sound. Bowie, Reed, and Frye, RIP and I hope you all are having a great party up there. You are missed here.

Everyone " borrows" from someone, or they outright copy. Nobody ever just started playing and singing their own songs without hearing something that inspired them. That said, Bowie and Reed are certainly about as close to originals as you can get, but that's not to say they haven't learned from others and applied as they sought fit.

hi, two years ago we lost Lou, this year we lost David. Who is left? Or, maybe a better question, who is there to take their place? Whether or not you like Lou, he was a fighter for individualism, he wanted to belong to no tribe, busk for no cause. Except for his wife, Ms Laurie Anderson, I think he was at odds with the world as it is. And i believe the world is a better place due to his music. We will probably not see the likes of him, or Mr. Bowie, again. Not in the West, anyway. Everything here is now bought and sold. Nobody has time to stop and think. To muse, to create, Lou knew this, and really could not do anything about it except to SING, and write. As long as somebody is still listening to rock & roll, there will be some Lou and David. God Bless America, nobody else will! jz
