The story of Lindy Hop is one woven through the generations. From the early days of swing, to the changing tides of the '60s and '70s, the Mama Lu Parks dancers were the guardians and champions of this essential American art form.
We celebrate David Butts' contributions to the world of Black Jazz Vernacular Dance as he carries on the legacy of Mama Lu Parks, George and Sugar Sullivan, Al Minns, Norma Miller, the champions of the Harvest Moon Ball, and the many great Lindy Hop torchbearers of the 20th century.
This story is more than a dance; it's a living, breathing chronicle of joy, resilience, and community spirit. It is one that, in the words of David "could never die," if we keep it going.
