A less than perfect start dropped David to 6th by turn 1, but some jostling and contact ahead lead to 5th by the exit of turn 3 and a great dive inside Kingsbury before the Mountain lifted him back to 4th. David was able to stick with the front 3 until Lap 4 when some cars started to slide around. (Later understood to be a car spilling coolant). This caught out Edgar in 3rd and as he came in to the right hand Chris curve his back end stepped out and ran on to the grass on the left so David went for the gap on inside, but Edgar's car snatched for grip a couple of times and he was forced in to our path and we collided side to side doing a fair amount of damage to both the cars. The track was still slippery in random places and David assumed he had picked up damage as the car kept getting loose, until he saw the red/yellow flags realising the surface was affected around the whole circuit. After another lap all seemed to be well so David set about seeing If he could gain on the front 2 who were fighting. Sadly on lap 6 the back end stepped out in to the Gooseneck (possibly on some coolant) and as he fought to control the sliding car it bounced over the left kerb which lifted the car up on to the right of the track, then on to the grass and it dug in, nearly flipping it. Sadly the tyre had been torn off the rim so we couldn't rejoin and David first podium slipped through his fingers. However despite this disappointment he left the day in great spirits knowing the pace shows lots of promise for the season ahead.
