I just spoke to Gedge, about two hours ago. He's a great bloke, without having to video the conversation.

John Robb is the closest thing we have to John Peel in 2021. Nothing in musical terms is off the table and that is the way it should be. I am reluctant to use the phrase “national treasure” but, to me, he is.

I would imagine there must be hundreds of musicians to interview Makes a great insight to some of the less famous lead singers, who made some exciting music from the shadows of punk and create indie stuff

Great interview John. Seamonsters is one of the main reasons I formed a band in the first place. Fascinating to hear Gedge's thoughts on it.

Another enjoyable interview (loved the Tony James one too) Saw the Weddoes live 3 times 89/90 @ Barrowlands....were incredible! I disagree with David saying Bizarro was similar to GB...I thought Bizarro production was much 'fuller' and hardhitting...less treble! Cheers John!

I don’t know if you read these comments, John but here goes nothing… I genuinely believe you are the best interviewer I’ve ever heard or seen. Your questions and the way you let your guests talk is a skill very few of the current batch of narcissistic pseudo rock journalists have. As a 52 year old, I find discovering new music pretty overwhelming but you have turned me on to so many new artists over the last few years mate. There is one person I would pay to see you interview though. Richard Ashcroft. The man is fascinating and so is his music. I’ve seen many people try but I honestly think you, Mr Robb, are the only one who could perform the definitive Ashcroft interview.

Thanks David for your kind observations. Personally I think it’s about listening and nudging and creating a relaxed space for people to open up. I interviewed Richard Ashcroft years ago and when the Verve started even before they made a record I went to his flat in Wigan to do a Verve fanzine with Brian Cannon - it never came out in the end. I would love to interview him now - I really liked what he was about.

@@JOHNROBBofficial I am pig sick of defending the likes of Richard, Ian Brown, Liam, Noel and even your good self to people who think simply because you have an accent, it somehow means a person should be treated as, at best, a novelty. More fool them. They don’t know what they’re missing. I’m currently obsessed with bands like the Lovely Eggs, Billy No Mates and Sleaford Mods because of you. Thanks mate.

Your interviews are ace. Johns always on it. Lovrd the lovely eggs one... Sleaford mods are the new sex pistols and David Gedge has written some of the greatest songs ever. Plus the stone roses resurrection of pop is on my shelf beside, a bivke, a copy ofvtge Koran and god is not great. Peace Jogn Robb. 💯✌️

I'll probably get cursed but I was never impressed by Steve Albini's production skills. He gets the job done for sure but his records sound too "dry" to me.
