This song, this venue, this date in Gdansk marks the best performance of "On an Island" by David Gilmour if we dare call any of them the best. Cudos to Jon Carin for his sweats and efforts and love for David's music! Jon is a superb MUSICIAN.

Minds speak. Actions speak. Mouths speak. But how rare it seems for a soul to speak, and so clearly that another can "hear" it in his own soul, and be touched beyond words. That is the gift in David Gilmour; and so liberally does he give it away. His music creates a moment which cannot be described or transferred, only experienced.

This is one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs of all time. Jon Carin and "El Terifico" really shine on this song. David Gilmour is in top form for this solo and more than rivals the studio version. "El Terifico" is just flat out of sight on this solo/dou! I adore the strings and this is one hell of an orchestra! Thank you David Gilmour for all of the happiness your music brings me. Great job Jon Carin in the production of this concert and I am so proud of you keeping Pink Floyd's music sounding live and well mixed!

The first time I listened to this live in Gdansk version of this great song, well it moved me to tears. The soul, the feeling, the emotion that Sir David so effortlessly exudes is special. I am not sure if there has ever lived a more talented rock musician than this man. His vocals are like velvet, his lyrical collaboration with Polly is a match made in heaven, and on top of his incredible guitar playing he can pick up other instruments and make them sing as well. He is absolutely a treasure and seeing him live before I die is definitely on my bucket list.

God this is a great song. I have fallen completely in love with the live versions, particularly the one with Crosby and Nash. I have listened to it dozens of times and I always think about the first girl I was ever intimate with. 'We lay side by side, between the moon and the tide, mapping the stars for a while. Let the night surround you. We're halfway to the stars. Ebb and flow, let it go. Feel her warmth beside you.....', Yes, I remember that night. Wonderful. Play this song at my Wake.

Have never seen Waters and never want to. Saw Gilmour this year and it was a 15 on a scale of 1/10. His solo stuff is incredible. Just sad that he never plays anything from his first solo album which I think was probably some of his best songs. On an Island from a musical standpoint was top notch, it just doesn't get much better than this. He is a musical genius and his tone on the guitar is as good as it gets.

Agreed. Would love to have heard him do There's No Way Out Of Here, or even Murder from his second album. I hope I'm wrong, but last year's tour may be the last we'll see of him live given that he's now in his 70s, and it would have been nice to just sneak in a couple of the old ones. But I'm glad I got to see him twice on his RTL tour. I saw him in September 2015 and again in September 2016, and the latter one was about twice as good as the former, with an absolutely belting final Comfortably Numb.

I have seen David twice(during this 2006/2007 tour for OAI and as a girl for my HS Graduation) and Roger twice also. All four shows at Radio City Music Hall/MSG/Nassau Veterans/Beacon Theatre or Barclays for the last one. Anyway, David was epic and had guest vocals from Graham Nash @ Dave Crosby among others. Roger just played the 1979 album The Wall for the umpteenth time with some good special effects and pyrotechnic work at MSG. As a die hard fan of The Glimmer Twins and British Rock and Roll, the Gilmour shows are just of superior quality and intimacy than his band mate, maybe Syd would agree.
