And this is a lesson no one should take to heart if your legs are messed up don’t put more stress on them rest
@johnthechosen1123
Жыл бұрын
Ok this is true. But it’s also a lesson of what we’re truly capable of. If your legs aren’t messed up and you’re running in a race and you’re feeling like you want to quit or that you can’t run any further, you’re probably lying to yourself. Your body might be telling you to stop because you’re not used to that activity, but you’re probably capable of way more. And you should push through and not call it quits
@side3672
11 ай бұрын
Yes and no, I think if you have something to prove to your self overtraining to an unhealthy level is almost healthy in the sense it shows you what you are capable of and sets you up for life. There have been plenty of times I have taken an exercise or run way to far beyond my limits and injured my self and I regret it a whole zero times. Each one of those times is when I’ve learned the most about who I really am deep down and I think there is incredible value in that suffering. As long as you take your recovery seriously and don’t get something serious like rabdo I think there’s genuinely room for over training here and there.

Although I ❤ stories like this, from personal experience I happen to know you can really mess yourself up by going beyond what you are physically capable of. At some point, your body will revolt and this can set you back days, weeks, months, and sometimes years. There’s no shame in listening to your body. I am just now coming back from what was almost a year of bedrest and I have already invoked injury. It is because the urge to do what I used to be capable of doing is so strong. Merely walking was never part of my MO back in the day. Every time I go out for a walk I want to run, but I know that if I want to heal my injury, I have to resist that urge or I’m never going to get better. Sometimes you’ve got to scale it down a notch if you want to live to fight another day. Remember: Slow is fast and fast is slow.
