You've totally nailed it, Bill. 🙏 It's a funny old world... Whilst scrolling through some KZitem tunes yesterday, a song by Mr Sheeran popped up. It's had been viewed 4.2 BILLION times!! 😱 I truly believe that David is in a league of his own, but in terms of popular music such as Ed - he was probably born 20 years too early.

I can see it in your eyes What I know in my heart is true That our love it has faded Like the summer run through So we'll walk down the shoreline One last time together Feel the wind blow our wanderin' hearts Like a feather But who knows what's waiting In the wings of time Dry your eyes We gotta go where we can shine Don't be hiding in sorrow Or clinging to the past With your beauty so precious And the season so fast No matter how cold the horizon appear Or how far the first night When I held you near You gotta rise from these ashes Like a bird of flame Step out of the shadow We've gotta go where we can shine For all that we struggle For all we pretend It don't come down to nothing Except love in the end And ours is a road That is strewn with goodbyes But as it unfolds As it all unwinds Remember your soul is the one thing You just can't compromise Take my hand We're gonna go where we can shine We're gonna go where we can shine We're gonna go where we can shine (and look, and look) Through the windows of midnight Moonfoam and silver

David went out with me for a month -or- so. 39 years ago I was 16 and he was 17. I have only just realised who he is now. He did not talk much. He seemed "different". I made him smile. The way he looked at me will never leave me. I was sad when I realised he was not coming to see me any more. I am watching this video to try to bring it all together. The Dave I knew in 1985, the White Ladder David Gray, and the legend he has become. I have tried to reach out to people I knew in 1985 with no success. He did not talk much. I did not have much of a voice either, when I was 16. 1985- I was sad when I realised he was not coming to see me any more. 2024- I am heartbroken.

Listening over 20 years after I first heard this song on tape from A Century Ends and knew David to be a genius. What I've learnt from goodbyes is definitely that our souls are the one things we can't compromise. That we meet people for a reason which in my experience is for our soul's to learn and grow and sometimes that's best done apart. Wishing us all great and lasting love 💖🙏
