The boy isn't sure initially, he's nervous and seems to feel like it's a little silly waving his hand. But he picks up points the teacher is showing each time, and relaxes and shows he has talent and is a good student singer. It must be tough being any boy, wanting to sing, with so much to learn. The teacher's very good about putting the students at ease and getting them to think about it and to try. I wish I'd had some singing and music instruction as a kid and teen. (I was an amateur. I did have a year and a half of piano, but didn't practice enough as a young teen. I wish I'd had more, stuck with it, and I wish I'd had training for singing and music.) I practiced with the adult choir at church (with my parents) until I got a little older and began singing with the choir on Sundays. My eyesight has always been handicapped, but in recent years, got worse, so I miss getting to sing in choir. I can't read the sheet music at that regular size anymore. Funny thing, some of the things he's teaching would help me now. -- The transition from my childhood voice (boy soprano) to my adult voice (between tenor and bass) was frustrating, because it took a long time to feel comfortable and find my range, where I should have been able to do this quicker. I had trouble finding the tenor and bass lines, even though I still can find the treble and harmony / melody line. I still love to sing, and I've been surprised to find my range is wider than I had thought, but I still have trouble finding how to do smooth transitions between higher and lower ranges. I was pretty good as a boy soprano amateur, so I still want to improve now as an adult learner. Really glad these turned up in my KZitem recommendations. The boys are lucky to get to study music and prep for music in their later lives.

@TheSauce Group That comments I read today - as a fan of boys choirs. Now I´m 80yo. My dentist: "You never will need a Klappergebiss" ! When I was a kid I didn´t like shokolate and other sweet thinga.....:) A Klappergebiss (chattering teeth) is a denture (my dict.) I hope that my dentist will be right !

The old problem - the accompaniment drowning out the singer. Very bad teacher!

Conducting yourself, that's really it. Do it. Poor conducting, poor singing. But it improves because you have feedback in your own motions.
