This is the tip of the iceberg. More players. Trainers. Doctors. Referees. Low-mid level team personnel. Low-mid level NBA personnel. Personal security. Statkeepers. Flight attendants. There’s a whole network that runs deep.

What if Jontay bet on the overs on his stats or for his team to win?

Since this happened I've heard sports writers & former players who've known & dealt with Jontay say that "he's not the brightest bulb in the pack." Which obviously makes sense since he thought he could get away with doing this & threw away his NBA career over what would've been a minor pay day compared to what he could've made in an NBA career

Sports betting is a terrible thing for sports. The leagues are making money but it’s bad for the sport and for many of those betting.

Indeed, sports betting (exceptions are some shady offshore books online..you must be careful when choosing a book) has never been more regulated and overseen than it currently is. Not the same as in the old days..even twenty years ago, when red flags were not as thoroughly investigated. Enforcement is not 100%..very few things are…but it’s significantly tougher to “get away with anything” in sports betting world today.

Don't know how you can't get suspended for life if you shave points and bet against your team. If he only did one of those things, it would be bad enough, but he did both. Not excusing Calvin Ridley, but at least he bet on his team to win.
