You can't take on the most powerful corporation with a 3 person team and think you're walking out of their main HQ alive. Not everyone may understand why David didn't stop, but in the world of Cyberpunk the government has practically abandoned it's citizens and the only thing that actually matters is making sure you're remembered. When David's mom was killed, and her ashes pumped out through a vending machine, that was pretty much his breaking point.

@@Grizabeebles I mean, not entirely. There was fundamentally nothing she could do to stop him. Not a single damn thing. All she could do was be there to help him get as far as he possibly could. He was already long gone, long before this particular scene, she knew that more than anyone else in the crew, in fact. What she did was less feeding an addict one last time, and more so willing to stand by someone she already knew was dying to the addiction, and making sure he can at least get his last meal.

Yea, its crazy. Maybe its makes us so emotional because deep down, we know thats exactly the world we are heading towards. It feels extremely real. In a world like that though, i dont think many of us would stand still and do nothing. I think the human spirit embodys Pettiness and if we arent being treated right we would rather burn the world to the ground then try and survive in it. All i know is its a world i would destroy at all costs. And hope the surviving humans can rebuild a better world.

As much as I love this show and David - he threw it all away over emotions sake... Which I can absolutely understand. We do dumb things for dumb reasons even if it means sacrificing our own bodies.. lives.. and our souls.. for us to feel like we're loved. Truly 😭 I'm more sad for the wonderful friends he built throughout his adventures before he died. We can only hope to find those that care for you more than themselves.

I love the fact you can view this scene so many different ways. That he manage to keep sane by the people near him after this. Its only due to the fact he so many caring friends near him even towards the end. This is first time where we see him break down but realistic kept his cool because of his mother's love still even during a mental breakdown

This scene broke me. I was so invested into every character and very few NEW animes to come after the 90's have ever made me cry or taken me on the emotional roller coaster that Cyberpunk did.. both the show and the game. I've had lots of friends fall into psychosis and helping them was an endeavor that only existed to suck me in deeper into my own. Pulling myself out showed me, why, that was so hard for them.. and why I couldn't help them. His decline into insanity is more than relatable, it hits home like meteor.

I like to think that David was a bit more lucid than he let on. Like in the state he was in, he was seeing some grand cosmic irony with how he was going to the top of Arasaka Tower, even if it wasn't how Gloria wanted him to, and he was getting lost in that thought for a moment rather than fully succumbing to the cyberpsychosis.
