The counsel given to God’s people in Hosea 14:2, "Take words with you and return to the Lord,” is one that we want to take very seriously. If we have offended our own God and King, how will we speak to Him when we have an audience with Him in the highest court? What words will we bring with us to honestly express our shame? What arguments will we lay before Him as we plead for restoration? What things matter most to Him and us in a time of true repentance? God has given us the opportunity to follow David before the throne of grace and to listen to him plead with God. Using David’s words in Psalm 51 we may understand what words we must take with us as we daily repent.
