Dave Shultz has always struck me (metaphorically thankfully) as a very honest guy. He just says the truth regardless of how it paints him or anyone else. That's pretty rare in wrestling where the bullshit is and works are non stop. Look no further than Hogan and Flair. Even the Rock on JRE was cringe lol.

Shows you how great he was at his job. We’ve all heard the saying that the best pro wrestling “gimmicks” were guys just regular personality turned up a notch. Steve Austin, Brian Pillman, Brock Lesnar, Ric Flair, all guys that sort of floundered (even if just briefly) until they took their own personality and turned it up one notch. Dr D is a country guy, he sounds like every uncle or older male relative I have (I’m from Alabama) he’s funny so when he did his tough guy redneck routine people believed it. It’s believable but he’s never been arrested or even divorced so he must not really be a jerk lol.
