@@annetteblack9573 A tad off topic. But, addressing your comment, increased employment rates and opportunities can't really be seen as a bad thing. No growth for a steadily increasing population results in shortages and social inequity. It's basically physics in action. Assuming your not only considering your personal affairs, aren't you over things having been, essentially, the same - for eternity? Not enough money in the economy [money shortages bring money shortage issues - like homelessness, option-less lifestyle decisions i.e. drug use, robbery, ram-raiding, further racial division ... and on it goes] is never a good thing - anywhere - not just New Zealand. These things aren't happening as a result of the current government. [Let the reader understand] This government appears to be hell-bent on delivering what they set out to do. And to be honest, this is the first time I've ever really seen any government so prepared to try. And, also, so prepared to be self-critical. It's kind of refreshing and, dare I say it, almost a paradigmatic shift regarding New Zealand's political and social aspirations - in general.

@@Huckem49 Clarity. Maori and the Crown. Maori the original people protected by the crowns governing body to protect Maori interests as its indigenous peoples. To safe guard Maori whilst settlers moved in to share Aotearoa. This is why indigenous is a word that is a hot topic. Because EVERYONE ELSE is automatically a Foriegn entity. 5 years prior to the Treaty being signed the Declaration of Independance was discussed and signed off by the crown. This set the lead up to the treaty and that truth was spread throughout nz. The Treaty mirrored it . Maori NEVER had to lose a thing and gained Foriegn goods and trade protected from land grabbers by way of government only purchasing IF Maori chose to sell. Now Maori have 6%. However. Facts are that No foreigners truly can own a land over its original people. Doesn't matter how many people say differently. Doesn't matter how much force used or laws made up. Democracy doesn't exist only truth does. Every indigenous peoples on this planet was allocated a portion of land by God and everything else belongs to the Devils play book. So that's why genealogy is also a hot topic. It clearly shows were you should actually be on the planet. Not where you think or want to be. Now that should spin your wheels for a while. So if you have mixed blood yet not one drop of Maori blood. You are a foreigner.

As more New Zealanders get educated on ‘the principles’ and how they are ambiguous and interpreted at will. The more will want to resolve the united relationship and future for the country. This isn’t about changing the treaty. It’s ratifying the fine print (principles) that no New Zealanders have had a say in over 150+ years after the signing in 1840. There is a citizens initiated referendum or a platform for a political party to run on as further options. This is just the start…

John wishes he was born Maori. Michael Laws made a good point today. The American constitution has been amended 27 times since it's inception. The treaty is woefully out of date.

John wants an example of impact on a daily basis. My employment contract stipulates that I must adhere to the principles of the treaty of Waitangi and perform the tasks required for my employment in accordance with the principles of the treaty of Waitangi. I would be absolutely fine with this if I knew what the principles were. How can I adhere to principles if I don't know what they are. I don't think it is unreasonable to ask that the principles be defined, especially if people are required to live by them. Anyone who says it is racist to want to define the principles is obviously hiding something or knows they don't have a leg to stand on.

John. Thank god we still have a democracy. I agree with david on every aspect of his argument. I believe in equality and equal rights for everyone.. if tpm and elite radical tribal racist maori (not the rest of maoridom) take control by 2040, there will be no democracy. We'll have a dictatorship little different to a mugabe run dictatorship. By the way pre european maori were lucky to survive to 30. Thats more than doubled to over 70 so i think that disproves your argument about racism in the health system. As far as im concerned colour politics needs to go. I was a registered nurse for 30 years and need before race should most definitely take precedence over race.

Come on John. The fact that maori get free access to some services is exactly what David Seymour is saying. What if the issue causing the health problem is nothing to do with race? Then giving free services to someone based on race and not to someone else based on need is simply stupid.
