Seetsa Molapo both tua and Tyson loves to throw hooks and stay on the inside BUT the difference in Tua’s and Tyson’s hooks and style is Tyson is more of a Dempsey style so he needs to bob and weave to throw them Vicious hooks. Yes Tyson likes to stay on the inside BUT if you go body to body like how tua and Holyfield is in this video it shuts out the Dempsey style, he only needs 3inch at minimum. In the Tyson vs Holyfield match you see Tyson pushing Holyfield and Holyfield immediately goes right back to that body to body stance and I think that’s what caused the headbutt by Holyfield, and if Holyfield stayed outside he would stay on the outside wating for Tyson to come in and he would rush in to close the 3inch cap giving Tyson no momentum. Tua in the other hand is more comfortable on the inside no matter what kind of inn fighter it is and he almost throws all his hooks from his shoulder alone. Tua is an orthodox which is crazy cause his left handed so he always has his hips set he just needs to set his feet. In this video you see how tua utilize that body to body stance invite from Holyfield ,yes tua has a nasty hook but everyone seem to miss that his body shots are insane. Tua accepted the invite and had Holyfield in a southpaw stance (Holyfield is orthodox). Tua never gave Holyfield a chance to rush in like he did with Tyson cause tua calmly stalks you giving Holyfield no option but to let tua come in and every time that cap closes tua hits him with good body shots backing him up just enough to sneak in an upper cut. And every time Holyfield tries to switch to orthodox he gets hit with left hooks. Holyfield defense when he’s up close in orthodox stance is almost like maywather, one hand on the side of the chin and uses the shoulder to parry and counter but in this case the shoulder defence doesn’t work well with hooks. People might argue that it was just a sparring match but what they don’t understand is a lot of sparring partners makes a living of sparring and if you come in half gas you get send home and replace by someone who’s willing to push you to your limit.

Tua below his legs look rock solid and extremely special exercise program with lots of commitment. His fighting style is such that he has got centre of gravity and he is not of balance where fighters are skipping and dancing, more of a wrestlers legs controlling the ground. The other area of strength are his work ethics of building his upper body strength. If you see the frontal view you will see the development of the muscular development of the upper back between the shoulder blades that's developed and given his neck a solid foundation. These muscles are of strength and as usual since he is short he is delivering round house to the boxers from his shoulders to taller heavyweights who receive it on their chin when they fight upright position or else high cheekbone or side of the skull. His heavy midbody work make taller boxers lean forward and offer their head for a target and in range for his inside hooks to their chins and has a high accuracy ratio. Mind you he is totally multifaceted. The flying left hook to the point of his opponents chin that ends the fight. His heavy punching of his opponents body( midriff) that collapses them or make them lean forward and come down to his height and terminates the fight. Mind you he has a speed that he can land atleast a dozen power punches in matter of seconds that happened to very good boxers like Hashim Rehman when refree stopped the fight. One thing I have seen his opponents all tough guys get KO'D and loose consciousness. Many anxiety moments in the ring for the fighter, the referee and the ringside doctor. Other's stopped their boxing career. Few landed up with strokes post fights. One thing in heavyweight boxing he could finish an opponent and had a different variety of angles which taller heavyweights never faced in their lives. He won fights on his merit on KO'S and TKO'S. You didn't have to go to the judges scorecards. He was started as a heavyweight and finished as a heavyweight with honor in the same division. A heavyweight specialist. I like his attitude in boxing and the closest with this attitude is my favorite Roberto Duran. Sometimes The best fighters in boxing cannot be conquered. The only irony age closes their careers. I salute David Tua on his achievements.

This was the time Tua was in his prime. So much potential but was not managed well. Everything was going well until Kevin Barry took over! He would of been the first Samoan to be HW champion of the world. Now Joseph Parker has to try and finish what Tua didn't!

The Samoans are always strong, big, some of them are short, but the width of their body is large and made of muscles and combinating with a little body fat, that's why they are strong.

Tua was a lot more durable than Tyson and could generate more power with less movement. Would have been a cool fight to watch, but it never happened. Oh well. 🤷🏾♂️

Nice! I ended my boxing moments a few years ago, but I boxed my good portion of my life, and when I had a tittle fight I would spar 3 freash guys, I would spar 1 guy until I got tired and as soon as I got very tired they would throw another new guy right at me right away, that was hard, but it got me to go to the 12th round though

nice to see those things sparring sessions / fights that were never broadcast... I remember an anecdote back in the late 80's at the Mickey Rourke gym in LA where Riddick sparred Tommy Morrison. They were suppose to go 3 rounds but they went 2.. Morrison hit Bowe several times with body shots that made Riddick quit on the stool. Eddie Futch was pissed.

Well, if you know, in sparring you are not always try to beat the shit your opponent or to connect more shots. Sometimes (always imo) you try to work on something (counter, defense, tactic, clinch) so a sparring session isnt always a good idea to see who will win. Anyway they are both elite boxers and beasts.. Respect
