The suspension working, body position, bike control, everything is amazing.

Some of the finest desert racing footage in the world. Thank you for your work. I raced the event in 1989 and 2015.

Were you able to ride the course prior to the start or was the entire race first hand experience?

In 1989 I pre-ran about 70% of the track but on race day 1 I DNF'ed at about the 80kms mark which is 1/3 down the track. In 2015, I pre-run about the same but the track was quite different from 1989, still very fast but a lot more standing up. However, I made it to Finke on Day 1 and returned in one piece on Day 2, about 230 or 240 km each way. I was much slower in 2015 than I was in 1989 - old and out of touch with what was required 🙂@@frenchbulldogdad1003

Crazy that people have to stand so far back compared to similar events around the world.

It’s probably the safer bet to stand back only takes one mistake from a racer and things can go real bad

I think it's because a spectator got killed last year hit by a car, liability I suppose.
@trentprewett7223

Do ya reckon it's far enough back in a worst case scenario, toby cooking along at +200km/h, shit could get pretty wild losing control or braking something at them speeds, I don't think distance is the issue, a bit of common sense from spectators when the race is on wouldn't go astray.

Shame the event organisers are so useless as to not make the viewing experience of the event worthwhile at all unlike this video/ Yay years of only watching the vehicles start and arrive, so much fun. They had an extra camera this year! That showed next to nothing. What are they doing with all our money? Getting a camera and equipment and broadcasting to the live stream along the track from various points and even organising a helicopter like this video is easy with the money they get but nah they run off with the money and make it as hard as possible to enjoy the event without being there, even then the cost of racing is a scam for the normal bloke.

Totally agree, it’s like why would we go to fink as a spectator now. Granted there was a tragic accident, but similar events around the world don’t have these restrictions. Aussies are too knee-jerk, and then too lazy to stand up for common sense.
