Hey Quanta, thank you so much for putting this video together and making the beginner steps so easy for me to learn DaVinci Resolve. I've imported my clips and been working on them, however, I have some overexposed elements in the centre of the video screen where the main studio lighting was too powerful/bright and my singer was wearing white and is overexposed. Everybody else on stage is fine. Colour is good. It's just my main subject is overexposed and I'm thinking it's because of the poor gamma latitude on the sensor that is used in my 7D Mark II. I've tried to pull the levels down using the 'highlights' features you showed here but to no avail. Are there any other settings I can use to reduce the overall brightness besides the 'offset' master? And does da Vinci resolve have a 'sharpen' option? Does 'superscale' have anything to do with sharpening video? First time use are here and would really love your input. I can use the rest of your videos to help me sort the rest out. Cheers.

Hello, I had issues attempting to start the program once it was installed. I don't know why but my two attempts at both version 18 and 18.5 did not add or show the (simple) start or action of starting the application, and it wasn't until I found the actual shortcut by looking into the install files on the c:\ that I could start the program up, send the .exe file to the desktop as a shortcut etc... It was frustrating that it wasn't on the program tab from the start menu either. Even though I'm very familiar with computer systems, this baffles me and it took me a few (precious) days to figure it out!!! I just needed to point this out to you to maybe show a directions video to do this for those that are having this problem... cheers

I usually edit on my lap top. It's a 5yo Lenovo with i7 gen 8 processor with 1TB SSD and 16GB RAM, which is good enough to edit 1080p videos, but the editing process is slow on it and it gets stuck many times and is not playing back butter smooth like I see videos of editing on a Mac or stronger Windows setting. I get the job done, but slower and in a more frustrating manner. I thought I should try Da Vinci, but as I am trying it, it edits even slower than PP, much slower, to a point that it barely plays back the timeline even before editing anything. am ready to immidiatly go back to PP. I thought DaVinci might be better, I am so disappointed. What's going on?

Greetings and thank you for the video tutorial. I have a question. Do you have any videos that show you how to separate audio tracks/clips/soundbites that where recorded on one track into single tracks? Example: Noob, begins using OBS and follows many, many instructions on how to record game play and voice commentary mic. However when finished recorded project was brought into DaVinci Resolve both the game audio and mic audio where on one track. Do you have a video showing how to separate the one track into two so it will show one track as the game sound and one track as the mic? I have tried to Google search that and use the forums on DaVinci but I don't think I have found the correct way to word it because I get everything other then what I am really looking for. Thank you for your time and I honestly look forward to watching all your tutorials, tips and tricks videos on DaVinci Resolve. Thank you so much, I am very happy I found your KZitem Channel.

Howdy Quanta Either one can teach or one can't. Before I render my verdict here, let me give a couple of bonafides. I began editing in 1986 linear style and then later every so often I'd use the new method. Most of my big time vids are behind me now and I just wish I would have had D 18.5 at the time. Someone mentioned it on a vid about something else so I looked it up. Yesterday I found enough buttons to put audio to a video file...with much difficulty using only stone tools. THEN....I went looking for howtos. The last one I looked at was this one and Quanta..you got the knack. I learned more from you in the first 15 minutes than all the rest put together. I'm completely amazed that this program is offered for free. Jeez! But back to you. Ya done good. You presented what we need to know in, precise chronological order, building to the more complex. The other guys tried but failed. I salute you. This video will be kept near for further reference as I try out all the goodies. Thanks 10 billion! Your fan, Norm

I am new to Resolve and try to watch as many tutorials as possible. I have been a Power Director (CYBERINK) user for the last 5 years and I'm happy with it but would like to find out what is the fuzz about DaVinci Resolve. I have it on my PC now and play with it from time to time (it is very complex compared to Power Director) and I began to get most of the basics . Its gone take some time..... I have a BIG question: HOW CAN I SEE THE DURATION IN SECONDS OF A HIGHLIGHTED CLIP ANYWHERE (TIMELINE, PREVIEW WINDOW, etc) . I see numbers in 3-4 different areas on the screen but none give me the length of the clip that I just cut. I edit drone videos and need to have an idea of how long a segment will be. In PD when you move the cursor over a clip or click on it shows the exact duration in seconds. Please help !!! Thank you
@quantaaudio
8 ай бұрын
Within the media pool, when you hover over a video file thumbnail, you will see a small circle with an "i" in the center. Click on that and it will show you the files length. Within the timeline, select a clip, open your Metadata panel and you will see the length here. You can also view the clip length in the Inspector panel, under the "File" tab. If you have cut a clip, it's still going to show the original length of the clip it was cut from, when working within the timeline. But, you could right-click on the newly created clip(s) and choose "Change clip duration" from the contextual menu and the display that pops up will show your clips length. Just be sure to hit "Cancel" when you want to close the window. Also, if you have both viewer windows open, you can also double-click on a clip and it will be displayed in the Preview Viewer window and it's length will be shown in the top left corner of the viewer window.
