10:30 Since we're still talking lv50 at this point I want to point out that until you get tsubame-gaeshi at 74, refreshing higanbana with a yukikaze combo is less damage per gcd than refreshing it with a positional combo. Yes, saving a GCD per refresh can get you some extra filler steps, but gekko/kasha are just strong enough compared to your other combo steps that cutting _nine_ of those in exchange for _one_ kaeshi-less filler combo doesn't end up worth it (9 positionals is better than 2 positionals, 1 midare, and 6 of the weak combo steps). The new kaeshi _does_ raise the value of the filler combo by adding a 2nd midare to each filler combo, but that doesn't apply until you actually unlock it As an example, at lv50 you deal 1900p refreshing higanbana with a positional combo, and 1560p refreshing it with yukikaze. After 9 refreshes, you have thus dealt 17100p if using positionals, and 14040p if using yukikaze. However, yukikaze users get another 9 gcds as compensation, which they can spend on a full filler combo, which is 2956p (using a 1.4x multiplier for the guaranteed crit on midare setsugekka, which is fairly generous), which is slightly less than you lost on the refreshes (assuming you hit all the positionals - miss too many and yukikaze pulls ahead again)

That is an interesting point! I suppose in that aspect, considering how close they are at that point, it almost doesn't matter whether you do it with two or three 🤔 What matters is more what can front load your damage more in the moment, especially in this lower level range while actively leveling since, well, things often die somewhat quickly! Thank you for the correction! 😊

Certainly not an easy part! I know for a lot of players, action names meaning something makes it easier to remember, and with jobs that have completely "nonsensical" names that don't mean anything (to the reader anyway!) this is really hard 😂

Think I saw you pick up your wonderous tails for this week just earlier. I play on Spriggan, but I had hopped over to Louisoix so I could see what a friend was up to through the friends list (a totally normal and non-stalkerish thing to do). I had to do a double take to make sure it was actually you, and before I could say anything you teleported away. My own wonderous tails turn in got samurai to 98, so the timing of all this is very fortuitous.

Mostly I just found it kind of funny running into you, small world and all that. Had a similar moment about a month ago, where my gf and I ran into Hector Hectorson during alliance raid roulette. When we were approaching the math boss, he made a joke in chat: "everyone remember their primes?" "A, E, I, O, U (and sometimes Y)"

18:20 ngl I dropped SAM as my go-to melee at the beginning of DT because of the tsubame change. The current version is SO nice now that I think it'll be my go-to again in 7.2. Not being punished for needing to use a different weapon skill for whatever reason (buff fell off due to downtime etc.) is far more approachable. Honestly it baffles me that so many changes in DT were intended to make jobs easier to approach but ended up making things more unfriendly to casual play.

I stumbled into a video by Jayse Skybreaker about Slow SAM that gives a really good tip on how to keep things aligned - it's very easy to remember and works perfectly for, like, everything but the longest fights. I'd post it here but I know youtube isn't very friendly about links...

Links get auto blocked for reasons related to bots. It is also in rather poor taste to come by and advertise another channel unprompted in the comments though 😅 And yeah the broad strokes of slow samurai will essentially be just as important for fast samurai if something gets in the way as, ultimately it is about using meikyo to catch up every time the burst comes around 😊

In to just state Hagakure should be learned at 52 when we gain Kenki. Also, just fuse Guren and Senai already. Same CD and its the same issue we had with Shoha 1 and 2 and they fixed that. They don't even need to really change anything, Guren at 70, same damage and line aoe and then at 72 when you learn Senai, just increase the single target to that, and balance the dropoff dmg. Simple.

@@raarasunai4896Why not both? Guren at 70 and then just rename it Senai at 72. Sly way to say "Really Senai" but either would be fine. Silly to just give us the talent equivalent of a upgrade of the same ability two levels apart, but thinking of it when Guren came out in SB and years later learning Senai, it doesn't really hold up in a max level sense. They share the same CD, use the same amount of Kenki. I would like a totally different animation for the potenial fused attack though.

I hear that too but people think dungeon samurai and savage samurai are the same. I personally dont even have AOEs on my hotbar with no intention of using sam outside of raids. If you freestyle sure its simple, but if youre trying to align with raid buffs you're expected to not drop GCDs and have your hardest hitting skills be available for even minute bursts. With all the downtime in the current tier, makes this such a challenge.

Something I’ve been wondering about in regards to the lvl 100 opener, is it worth trying to adjust it to fit the 2nd Tendo into the buff window of other classes? Idk if it’s just a thing of consistency or not but seeing Tendo in burst do 150-170k and outside of burst do 100-130k feels like a noticeable enough difference, unless the Higanbana in burst does more DPS long term
@CaetsuChaijiCh

If it is possible without pushing other things out, then the answer would probably be yes, but there's simply too many things you want in the opener so it might be hard! 🤔

@@CaetsuChaijiCh makes sense, usually I’m able to get the higanbana under pot window still when I do the 2nd Tendo first (though it does miss sometimes if I’m not focusing) I’m mainly thinking like when I have a dance partner and the damage from Tendo is skyrocketed cuz of Dance/Devilment, it feels bad to lose out on that much burst DPS for the sake of Higanbana 😅

Apart from the opener burst do you never use meikyo for yukikaze again?
@CaetsuChaijiCh
8 күн бұрын
If you can at all help it then you wouldn't want to use yukikaze with meikyo due both to its weaker potency, but also to how the alternatives "save more time". Sometimes it can be worth it to "rush out" an extra iaijutsu, but that can be fight specific! So the important thing to keep in mind is generally don't use meikyo into yukikaze, but there can be exceptions! 🤔😊

Also what's the benefit of optimizing burst windows on odd minutes when those don't have any raid buffs (especially when not doing so seems like it'd sometimes let you smuggle a kaeshi: tendo instead of a regular kaeshi, or even use two tendos in some raid buff windows outright)? Am I missing something?
@CaetsuChaijiCh
10 күн бұрын
Sometimes you use a gemdraught on the five minute rather than the six minute. It's also just a case of consistency, you can't fit everything in the even minute burst anyway, and trying to hold both meikyo shisui every time will not work out well either. So it is complicated, but I think it is a bunch of different things that causes this 🤔😅
