T-Mike, I never expected a video about my motor as I figure you've must have made one in 300 video's to date. But, wow !! I am so honored that you took the time to document this process for me & and your viewers. It seems like it will be of great help to all those trying to understand and build the confidence needed to take on a project like this. You really do have wonderful skills in teaching and presenting the parts and process of organizing , reviewing a plan of attack , implementing the plan and describing it to others as you work. You have really found a calling. I'm so very glad I found you on KZitem and full of joy that you are a fellow Louisiana native. I love this state and everything that comes out of it. You are a state treasure and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thanks for your generous consideration, Sincerely ......................

Thank you for your incredibly valuable tips T-Mike. I own a '66 9.5, and now I feel safe enough to pull it apart.

Great video. Can you tell us the paint you used? I have this very same motor and need to touch up the BLUE
Do you have a video where you show a closeup of the tilt mechanism on one of these? I have a 9022c that I have to unlatch from the bottom side to tilt it, so I can't do it while in the boat. First boat so I don't really know where to begin.

Mike, to replace the friction plate do you have to take both shells apart, or can it be done without taking the whole motor apart? I love your videos and will be buying all of my 1971 9.5 Evinrude and 1974 9.9 Johnson parts from your eBay store!

Hi T-Mike, I hope you can help. I have a 9.5 Evinrude from '71. The very same as in your video. I struggle finding a matching paint with Vintage Outboard Paints. The Evinrude Light Blue 1971-77 seem too light. Which paint have you used in your restore please? It seems like the one I should use as well. Thanks in advance.

The way this motor is assembled you start with clamping down the gear case very firmly when you build the motor around the your case I was a Full-time OMC outboard motor technician for 25 years. This is the worst motor they ever made to work on fun watching you put this together it’s a doozy.

Hi I am having a problem with my Johnson 9.5 The throttle will not go to WOT The cam follower stops increasing the throttle position with about 1/2 throttle remaining on tiller speed adjustment. The last half throttle doesn't move the throttle at all the cam doesn't have anymore increase in its throw.
