I'm in RCIA also the group leaders always thank me for bringing th8ngs into the group and even called me a disciple which I never thought of myself as I'm just a baby crawling maybe not even that imay still be on the teat of mother church not crawling yet. I just share what God has revealed to me and father mike definitely with bible in a year and catechism in a year played a hugs part of my ability to add to the group. This is such an important tool. WeNEED the reading and explanation as trying to do our selves will always lead to incorrect meanings. Another thing I live about the catholic church. It's not read these verses and figure it out have fun but ok I got you here is what you are asking read with me ask questions pleasr.

The instructions by God to the people tell about food safety (no stale/poisonous food), personal safety (no hunting dangerous animals), discipline (no work in the dark, no overwork, wake up early, sleep early), and kindness as well as ethics (only get what you need and leave the rest for others, do not gather extra perishable food for tomorrow). The teachings are very relevant. We must work diligently and gather what we need. We must not overwork and also not blame God when something doesn't seem to work. It is indeed better to die free and serve God than dying under the bandage of worldly obligations or pressures like comfort or fame. It is like the story of a parrot in a golden cage. We must not be bonded with the desire for money, fame, and success. If we work honestly, diligently, and trust God, all of this will be added to us (like what happened with King David and Job). We must not seek money excessively, and the money that is not ours. It could cost us our health and peace. Thank you so much for your work, Fr. Mike and Team Ascension. God bless you and the fellow listeners

I think in the West we have so much that God has been pushed out of our daily thinking, I have often see folks on t.v. who live in poverty stricken countries so much more thankful to God than we are , because they really do depend on Him for their needs. They rejoice in the small things, where we take them for granted. A good example of this is Christmas presents, I have seen Children overwhelmed with presents, only for the parents to complain that they don't play with most of them. Next year the same thing happens ! Some children abroad have so little they make toys for themselves out of other peoples rubbish, and delight in their simple creation.

Today was a very busy Saturday for me, it feels good to sit down and read the Bible after a long and productive day of work. Exodus 15 shows the Moses leading the Israelites in a song for God. They praise the Lord for His triumph over Egypt and all the pagan gods. They praise his steadfast love for the righteous that makes the wicked among other nations afraid. Aaron's sister Miriam also sings a song with the wome of Israel. Moses has the Israelites enter the wilderness of Shur where they run out of water. They are surrounded by bitter water and the Israelites complain. God gives Moses a piece of wood that allows him to make the water sweet. God reminds the Israelites to follow his commandments. Exodus 16 continues the complaints of the Israelites and they even go so far as to say it would be better if they died in Egypt. God promises to Moses that he will provide them with food. Aaron reassures the people that God will fulfill His Covenant. God covers their camp with quails and sends them bread. Moses instructs the Israelites to gather enough bread one day at a time. The Israelites hoard bread and are disappointed when it rots the next day. On the eve of the Sabbath day, the Israelites gather enough bread for the next day as well and this time it does not spoil. God disapproves of those who seek bread on the Sabbath. The Israelites call this bread manna from heaven. These chapters remind us of the fickle nature of humanity. The Israelites who had just been saved from slavery by the Lord are quick to claim they are worse off. I feel similarly at times and like Job, I question God's faithful love and justice when life is harsh. However, God is always with us, teaching and training us for the next day as you mentioned. This chapter also reveals the importance of the Sabbath day. We must continue to respect and observe the Sabbath so that we can properly worship the Lord. Leviticus 11 shows the Kosher Dietary code that the Israelites were ordered to respect by the Lord. God distinguishes animals that are clean from those that are unclean. This dietary code is very in depth, covering many different kinds of edible animals. God concludes these commandments by instructing the Israelites to be holy for He is holy. We must not defile ourselves and instead we should be holy. Just like Exodus revealed, God is constantly training and teaching us to be holy so that we can properly approach and worship Him. Psalm 71 tells of a narrator who places his trust in the Lord's refuge. Because the Lord has constantly delivered us from the wicked, we must continue to praise the Lord. God can provide us refuge as we live a lasting and fulfilling life. God will strike our enemies and give us hope. God will revive our spirit when we are down and thus we must praise Him. Thanks be to God! Day 36 - 2/5/2022

Sometimes, when I read/hear what is expected of the Israelites in the Word's of exodus and then have it followed up by Leviticus I truly can see how impossible it is to follow God's word. Yet as Father Micheal say's; without the Grace of God, we are doomed to failure just like the murmuring Israelites of this story. How can we not be in awe, fearing The God who created everything, promising us eternal life with no pain or suffering? God help us be like Your Holy Son Jesus Christ!

I noticed God told them to keep some manna in a jar and place it before the Lord to be kept for all generations. In the Catholic church we keep consecrated hosts made of flour and water, like a manna wafer, in the tabernacle behind the altar. It is before the Lord and there is a light kept burning next to it at all times.
