Hi Kyla , A real great insight into the day in the life of a software engineer, I have a few questions with regards to the self taught route. So I have learned Html, css and javascript. I can solve logic problems but I struggle to "program". Can you give advise with regards to how I can like learn how to make projects from scratch.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply, but I would recommend going on KZitem to follow tutorials on projects that you’re interested in! You can search up how to create a mobile app or a web application and start from there. There are lots of coding channels that break it down for you on what you need to build something from scratch. I’m a visual learner so I know KZitem videos would help me. If you didn’t wanna do KZitem, you can look it up on google and there are many articles that have tutorials to follow along. You can do something like “how to create a web application from scratch using JavaScript” or something along those lines, you can change it up of course.

Not a problem! Really appreciate the response. I was also going to ask, are you going to make any more videos with regards to just your experience with software engineering?@@kylaquilos

@@gevecht are you asking about more just of me talking to the camera on the topic or day in the life videos? I am definitely planning to do more of both! I know I’ve been so inactive the past couple months, but I’m coming back soon! I’m so sorry I’ve been MIA :( there were some personal things that were happening. But yes I am still planning to make more videos like that! If you have any requests for future videos, I’d gladly take note of them as well 😊 would love some ideas if you have any!

Honestly, its not easy to keep consistent on youtube, trust me I know, I used to work for youtubers as an editor and just a general producer😅, and it is never easy, so I really understand that aspect of youtuber. In terms of ideas, me personally, I would love like an updated video on what and how you would approach getting a job within software in 2023/2024. Are you currently still in the industry?@@kylaquilos

Wow, it means a LOT that you acknowledge that and understand. I've been kinda hard on myself for not being consistent, but trying to give myself some grace. Thank you! Also, that's so awesome that you were an editor! Regarding that idea, I love it! I'm gonna try to see if I can get a friend of mine to give some tips as well. I am still working as a software engineer, yes! I am in consulting though and I know some people consider consulting different from industry work so I wanted to clearly state that haha. I'm assuming you're self-teaching? I hope you're enjoying what you're learning! @@gevecht

I have applied to over 5,000 jobs and I still have not been given any offers. Do you have any advice for me?

Unfortunately, this year has been so rough in the industry… well, really everywhere. I’m sorry to hear you haven’t received an offer yet, I know it takes so much energy to apply to so many. I’d say right now your best bet would be looking at your network and see if you have any connections to companies that youd be able to apply to. Connections make a huge impact in my opinion.
