I got a 3rd at the Grands in OKC (where I still live) in 1986. It was awesome. Trophy was so big. We didnt clip in when I raced it was Hutch Bear Traps. I know you know the history, I just would love to know what gears you run in the events with the extreme incline on the first strait. I see you guys peddle over things that are incredible. I love the tech available to you guys now. I watch your videos and many other BMXers. Thanks man for uploading. I always root for ya.

Love this video. It's great to see what a day in the life of a Nat 1 rider looks like. This gives all those younger and older racers what it takes to organize your training, nutrition and mental health to be #1. Keep it up and good luck on the 2024 pro season.

Happy Holidays!! Didn't know you moved to Syndyt, that's awesome. Their new bike looks sick. I just bought a frame I'm hoping to get the rest of the bike together in the next few months so I can start racing again.

Just a reference with how much of an athlete you are I thought you would like to know this… Microwaving food burns all the good nutrition and good stuff you want, I suggest trying out a stainless steel Air Fryer it’s lot better.

Did or do you go to college? Did you go “all in” with your professional BMX career, or do you have certifications to fall back on in case something were to happen? What would be your advice to parents starting out their young children in BMX to help them grow and enjoy the sport? What do you believe was your competitive advantage which made you the most successful during your amateur career?
@DrewPolkBMX

I’m currently in my last semester of college. Education has always been important to me, so getting a degree is a must. However, I put more emphasis on my athletic career as that’s where my passion is. I would tell parents to support their kids and give them the resources they need to take BMX as far as they want. Riding as much as possible is crucial for skill, experience, speed, and enjoyment. I see problems when parents want their kid to win more than the kid does, and those kids usually end up quitting once they’re old enough. If the kid loves it and wants to take it a long way, support them; if not, they’ll learn a lot from BMX and use those skills elsewhere! I don’t shine because of my speed, it’s more because of my decision-making and race craft. I obviously was fast, but understand how racing works helped me be successful.

Drew, odd question here about your start gate. Trying to help a friend out by setting his gate so we can operate remotely without the truck running. What size/type car battery did you use and how many gates will it last through roughly?
@DrewPolkBMX
8 ай бұрын
It’s a boat battery, not exactly sure the specs. I usually charge it after every session to be safe, but I’ve used it for 5+ sessions without a recharge and I’m sure it can go much longer than that.

That's what's up, how long have you been doing it? Do you log your workouts in a Google drive doc, or word doc? Curiousity in programming you sports specific vs overall conditioning in fitness. Not looking to bring your morale down but I'm here to help you achieve your goals. I've studied programming and training for 8+ years, I like what I see and would love to chat with you and or you coach more in private if you're open to it.
