Hi Carmen, this video is so helpful! I'm going to be moving in January as a PR. I was interested on where you got the adaptor plugs and if they worked in canada? And which vacuum bags you preferred? I'm also starting to pack now so it would be really helpful 😊

How exciting! I am hoping to upload the videos of exactly what I packed in the next 2-3 weeks - so hopefully that is helpful for you. I will include what I packed and if I used it or not. The *adapters* I bought: www.takealot.com/travel-adapter-sa-to-usa-pack-of-2-adapters/PLID44740477 Yes, they worked. But I would rather recommend simply replacing the plugs ASAP it is much easier and then just having a two pack of adapters to use on the first day or two or for things that you can't necessarily replace the plug. I bought new cables for my laptop, camera and phone on Amazon before arriving and found that was very helpful (especially since you are moving for a long period). Remember that high volt items won't work here - so e.g., my toothbrush charger doesn't work here (it was the only one I forgot to check). *Here are the plug parts I got on Amazon to arrive before we did to use from the beginning:* Laptops (check if yours has the three holes like ours): amzn.to/3EBynqd Camera (if your laptop has two holes you can use this one for a laptop): amzn.to/3EHBfSO Phones (my husband has an Iphone and I have Samsung so this pack was perfect for us): amzn.to/3AH6PPl *Vacuum bags:* For our stuff in shipping my preference was these ones (I ended up buying another pack of them): www.takealot.com/vacbag-value-bulk-pack/PLID46867482 For our luggage I liked these: www.takealot.com/tevo-travel-vac-bag/PLID27898149 I did not like the third type I bought as seen in the video (the one with it's own pump). I ended up not using them, because the seal wasn't as good quality as VacBag and it meant that the bags let air out and I had to redo it and wait to see if it worked (which when packing and shipping wasn't a fun extra task) and I was worried they would open up in shipping. Hope this is helpful :) Will get to uploading more content ASAP but let me know if you have more questions or things you think will help you between now and Jan. Exciting times for you!

@@carmenfourie5346 Hi Carmen! thanks so much for taking the time to write such an elaborate response. This is so helpful! I've ordered most of the items you've suggested and will order the adaptors for the laptops closer to when we leave. Glad the move went smoothly for you, and congratulations on your new home! Looking forward to all of the 'life in Canada' content! Take care 😊😊

Do you think it better to ship furniture to Canada 🇨🇦? Because we are moving there and I have some beautiful furniture pieces

I think depends how much it means to you to have them here and the cost involved and how long you'll wait for them to arrive. Cost is likely to be lower if you're moving to one of the coastal places. Some companies don't ship to inland places. We waited 5 months for our shipping to arrive and that's quite a short time period compared to other people who've shared their time frames (and it was for a few boxes not a container or part of a container). We didn't want to ship any furniture, but depends how important your furniture is to you and if your willing to spend the money to get it here.
