throwing the big baits is a lot of fun. I've been trying to get a Bucca 6" Trick Shad. They're only released in small batches so everyone and their brother is on top of the release times.. Glad you were able to get back out there and catch some of the major feed. I got 30 smallmouth during yesterday's major. fun stuff.

@@JumbleTronChannel Thanks Ryan, I try to never let the little things get me down. Life is too damn short. I paid $25 for that custom painted lure which is way more than I would normally pay for a lure , but the guy let me pick his brain for a good half hour talking about painting etc.couldn’t leave his booth empty handed and I’ve always wanted to try a big trout glide bait so it was money well spent. The Silicone Swimbait I lost cost me $20 but was a similar deal…..hated that I lost that one. Craziest thing is I am literally editing a video in which my rudder cables snapped. I just replaced them with much thicker grade cables hoping not to experience it again. It wasn't too difficult of a fix and the cable cost 11 bux at home depot. Gonna keep a rudder repair kit in my kayak box going forward. You got on to a few nice bass out there. Thanks for sharing.

@@TheJJohnsonExperience Hey Jason, thankfully my rudder cable didn’t snap, it just slipped off the pulley and got wedged in tight. Having to run a cable thru the hull doesn’t sound like fun. Having spare parts is always a good idea. Truth is I could have fixed this on the bank but it was just easier to head home and do it cuz the water was moving a little too fast in the river for an enjoyable outing if I had stayed. Was happy with how things ended up. Thanks for coming along!

A break-off on a cast, and a broken rudder will not spoil your day, some folks would have went home and back to bed, but would have missed what turned out to be a good day after all. Looks like you're a convert to the "Big Glidebait".

@@FCPFishing man I was dying to get on some river Smallies but even if I had fixed it on the shore, the water was moving a bit too fast. I bought Mike Trout at the NH Sportsman’s show for $25. Not too terrible considering some of these big custom baits go for $150-250. You would see me crying if I lost one of those. Even at only 25 bucks, I tied it directly to my braid just to avoid the risk of losing it. It was hard enough losing that soft swim-bait I had paid $20 for at the same show. I too am on a budget.

What started out as a shit show, ended up a productive fishing day. That Pond looks amazing. How do you fish with the Hellgrammite? What size do you use and do you find a specific color works better than others?LOVE that Mike Trout. That was a good purchase for sure. Thanks for taking us along with you.

@@heidi2597 it was definitely a shit show to start the day but it ended up being a pretty good day by my standards. I rig the Hellgrammite Texas style on a #2 straight shanked worm hook with a 1/16 sliding Tungsten bullet weight in front. You can fish it in thick woody cover and usually get it free if it gets hung up. I have been using the Nikko Hellgrammites and take various colors ( mostly natural ) and play around until I find the one they want to bite. I picked up some BassPro Shop brand Hellgrammites last time I was there and tried em on this day , I will say the Nikko brand are way more durable. I got Mike Trout at the NH Sportsman’s show this past winter for $25.00, that’s more than I normally would spend on a lure but I wanted to try a big glide bait and some of them are just crazy expensive ! The guy who painted it ( his name was actually Chris not Mike) from A Bay Lures spent a good half hour sharing all kinds of lure painting tips with me. I will definitely go back this winter with a little extra money in my pocket. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment as always, it is much appreciated.

What a way to start the morning off on the water! Lose a lure and break your rudder. Hard reset and back to fishing. Not only is "Mike Trout" a good ball player, but he catches big bass 😅. @@FitzYakin Broke my heart to see that big soft swim-bait go sailing and my line go slack…. I was really hoping a big pike or monster smallmouth would find that thing attractive. I had been thinking my rudder cable seemed to be kind of sloppy, should have heeded my own observations and did a little preventative maintenance before heading to the river….live and learn but can’t let those little mis-steps ruin the day and it turned out to be a pretty darn good day. A few days after Mike Trout’s debut here on my old favorite pond, I hit a new to me pond without him and had an epic morning with my old confidence bait / go-to …the Spinnerbait and after that morning it’s safe to say I am not going to be a total convert to that big bait bug. Stay tuned… it’s also safe to say I may have a new favorite pond.
