hello. I like the idea of an engine from scratch. although you are using opengl so it is not so from scratch at all. Your video seems cool, but even for those who understand programming, is dificult to find out what is the engine code you are creating and where you are using your engine. It would be cool if you talk about in the video and present what you are doing... I clicked like to strengthen your journey. oh man. for those who read this far. i edited my answer, because i realized that engine from scratch is just a concept. besides that opengl is a graphics library. and also because the big engines also use opengl. so ok, i agree that you can call it from scratch. I'm going to keep my initial answer because it seems to increase the video engagement here on this channel. So in some way I'm helping...

I appreciate it.Yes the engine is not from scratch OpenGL is as low as i can go.I plan to make a recap video explaining my journey and what i have learned so far. These videos are just to ensure i code atleast everyday on the project. Also when i started i had no idea how much support OpenGL gives to the hard part of making graphics . You will notice that in later videos the title changed to Making a game engine.

@@zosarion I would argue that there is a lot more to the game engine than just the low-level graphics API. Personally I don't think it would be worth it to reinvent OpenGL unless you want expertise in that area, and I would definitely consider this as "from scratch" still. Good luck

I don't get your argument of "You are using opengl so it's not from scratch at all". What else was he supposed to do to interface with the GPU?

@dkd0m23 hi. opengl is a library. it's up to you consider or not what libraries you will use in your project. once I tried to create my own graphic lib from really scratch. but gave up. the basics is math to translate 3d points into 2d screen. but also has: facing occluding, z index hidden objects, lights, shadows, shading and very other things difficult to do. If you are creating one engine, it's up to you create things or delegate to existing libs. scratch for me is without any lib. but it is just my opinion.

@@landonellis6297 agree with you. who is creating the engine can consider this as from scratch or not. it is a matter of concept.
