No, thank God! It was ok. I just treated it with Super Slick cylocon spray. That's what I use, and it keeps my salt reels going

I surf the mainstreet pier regularly. When the tide is lower like that the fish sit in that swirling pocket past the 1st main sandbar. Basically straight out from where you were casting, but further out. You can stand on that bar its waist deep most on a day like that. I grew up bass fishing i use chatterbaits in saltwater too lol. You HAVE to throw at least 20-40lb mono or fluoro for leader the snook will destroy even pretty heavy braid in two seconds or at the least pull into the barnacles which cuts braid like nothing also. Plus it helps presentation. Go back on a higher tide (not dead high) to fish the pocket you were in.

Great video! Love the content! Is your reel ok after dunking it in saltwater?

@Big_Bend_Benji I think so. I keep it well oiled, so it should be, but definitely not ideal, thanks for watching it. Sorry didn't catch one

Submerging reel in water, tying lure straight to braid, using freshwater tackle. Come on Florida. Lol

@enrique-uz8qx Yes, it's not ideal to dunk reel. But I treated it with silicone spray, and that bait is the one bait challenge bait, and I couldn't lose it. I only had one, so I had to go straight braid. I had to go get it to make a video for the one bait challenge contest. Check out Fishing for Birdies 🐦. It's my video for the contest. Next time, 3 foot of floro just for you promise 😉

@enrique-uz8qx and that's a Shimano Stratic and a St Croix Avid inshore rod, so it's saltwater quality equipment

Ugh, heartbreak when getting stuck on pilings 😢 you may have needed to wade out and cast to get better depth. Daytona beach is a low-impact beach, meaning it gradually gets deeper, so you could have been casting into less than a foot of water, possibly not deep enough 🤷🏻♀️ but good video anyway! Good luck in the challenge!

When I got to the pilling it was about 4 foot but you're right, probably too shallow. This is not the one bait challenge video, though, just used the bait in this one

I didn't know you could catch saltwater fish using a chatterbait. Never seen anyone use that
