Suggestion. Use cherry picker and 2 straps to hold the engine steady and straight with bolts off the front of the heads when starting on the stand. Also helps reduce twisting and supports a bit of the weight. Can you post a video of the smart spark lights with the engine running?

Good info on the cam sensor setup. I've been running the smart spark on my off-road rig for a couple years with propane. Its been absolutely flawless other than a longer than "normal" start. I had no idea the cam sensors made a difference. I'm looking forward to swap to front sensor eventually and see if it changes anything

Well I had a mishap with the 5.3 so 6.0 build had to happen sooner. I put in a summit single plane stage 2 cam with double roller timing chain and front cam sensor. Still in process of getting everything tuned in but it still has the "long" start just like the 5.3 with rear cam sensor. Alot of variables but as of right now the cam sensor didn't change anything

@@NightWrencher hopefully you have better luck. I've read that my propane mixer might be worn a little out of spec causing long starts or cranking vacuum might be low to draw the propane thru maybe 🤷♂️ I still have both cam sensors in motor and can switch back and forth with no change in how it starts. Other than this minor detail the daytona sensors smart spark has been absolutely flawless. Maybe I need to play around with ignition timing at cranking some too. The only reason you would need the alternator would be to keep the battery charged while the engine is running. If system voltage drops below a certain amount, the SSLS will stop working so depending on how long you plan to run it, a simple battery charger should work just fine
