When both are at their best, Rune is a stronger player than Ruud. And in this match, for every two winners from Ruud, there were three from Rune. There were many reasons for Rune not winning this match, one of them being a very low first service percentage. If only Rune could get it over 60 percent (as many of his opponents), life would be much easier for him. 49 percent like today is of course a big problem. Not many ATP matches are won when the percentage is so bad. Sad really, because Ruud is a rather boring player, and in the final he will meet a player with basically the same style of monotonous play.
