The Magpul BEV Block is a much better option that the upper receiver block for working on your gun. You don't have to remove your optic and inserts into the barrel lugs. So there's no torquing of the upper, just on the barrel. It can also be flipped over and be inserted into the magwell as a lower receiver block.

This is why I like the Geissele reaction rod....it locks into the barrel lugs. I know the upper can probably take it but I'm always worried I'm going to bend an upper when torquing a barrel nut or muzzle device.

@@fubar1217 I've broken the timing pin in the barrel extension twice before I stopped using my clam shell for timed muzzle devices. I use the magpul bev block now.

Please don't use a clamshell vise block for installing timed muzzle devices. You can and will eventually break your barrel extension timing pin or break a chuck of your threads on your receiver. Use a magpul bev block or Geissele reaction rod so it holds the barrel. The clamshell is better for installing the barrel nut though.

Well you your supposed to reach the torque specs recommended at 12 o clock. You don't just force it. I guess you can but I'd rather do it the recommended way that gunsmiths I watch do it.

Can you get an adapter for that exact muzzle device to accept a wolverine from dead air?

Did you polish that suppressor?

Might want to mention using some rocksett or other setting compound and a torque wrench set at no more 20 to 30 ft lbs just about all manufacturers recommend this. If over torqued could cause damage to the barrel or threads then well you got another problem.

eeek - great way to crack your receiver .. use a geissele reaction rod so you put 0 stress on the receiver.

Are you behind enemy lines? Y’all need to stop with this “I need to suppress the flash” bs most of you for one would never even need shoot at someone let alone need to be so worried about the flash.

So true. We are to believe that a crush washer’s uneven compression will somehow overpower the tensile strength of approx. 12-14 hardened steel threads and cause an off-center condition of the muzzle device? We only ever used crush washers in my unit and used suppressors extensively and I have never heard of this.
