Appreciate this un-paid preview! This is the only non-promo content I’ve found so far so you candid thoughts were very helpful.

We do all of our previews that way. I don’t have any hard feelings for publishers who pay for previews… they want to get positive promotion any way they can. But we don’t want to be a part of that 😅

Only the best of content creators would brave tabletopia to cover a game. Personally, I would rather eat the game box than use tabletopia. I salute you, Sir.

I was LITERALLY looking for a video from you on this last night! Thank you so much for all of your work and the team you surround yourself with. Fantastic video, and I think I went back and forth on wanting it around 10 times in your video! I would play only solo (very likely) and am so curious if it would be worth it! Ultimately, again, I cannot thank you enough for your work, fantastic stuff!

Hi Mike! I believe blueprints you don't keep go into a blueprint discard and aren't reshuffled back until the end of the run, so you get a "once in a lifetime" (ha ha) opportunity to get them. I'm surprised the solo mode doesn't try to emulate the limited communication by, say, having serenade's card face down until you've played your first card. Not that it would drastically change your combat experience? I don't know. Thanks for the play!

Thanks for the correction! And I think what you suggested (serenade facedown until after first play) is a good variant if true solo ends up being easier than 2+ player games

The tough sell for me is not really an issue with this game in particular but all IP based games in that I think, "Why play this when I can play the video game?" Dead Cells is a super fast paced rogue-like that is difficult and engaging with each run and when you die; it's a super quick restart and this seems like it's trying to emulate that but might miss the mark. Your comment on having more fun with a friend cracks me up because I hear people say that about certain video games and it's like, "Yea. Everything is better with friends." Lol Anyway, thanks for covering this as it helps me visualize how the game plays!

I felt that way about the Slay the Spire adaptation, since it was so similar to the video game, but here at least you are doing something very different.
@BoardGamesUnLocked

@@OneStopCoopShop That is a good point. I think it's because this is a board game adaptation of a video game whereas Slay the Spire is a deckbuilding video game so it almost naturally translates. Either way, I prefer Dead Cells as the video game. Lol Now I just wait patiently for Hades to be made into a board game. :P

I tried to play this demo, but I'm really not a fan of Tabletopia. TTS mods just feel better to me. Currently backing this at $1, but am planning to up that in the pledge manager. This adaptation feels more interesting than the one done for Slay the Spire for me at least. Thanks for sharing!

They are certainly doing some cool things with making the game its own thing while connecting to the original. And I pretty much agree that slay the spire, while it looked good… is basically still slay the spire. In that case I’d rather just play the video game 😅

Really liking it so far, even more so with the daily reveals during the campaign. Even though this way it makes the battles a lot quicker, not sure if I'd prefer it if would need to use new cards for each round during a combat, and some way to keep track of which round it's on.

If the focus is meant to be on quick runs and campaign upgrades I don’t mind the ultra fast combat as is. It works well

The rules are so slow to go through on my computer so I gave up. Now I feel like I can try it for real. I also find the price a bit steep, but I’m waiting to see what the final product contains (as they add stuff every day). I would pledge for the deluxe version not for the miniature but for everything else that’s included/upgraded. Thanks for the video :)

Hrm that 2p card timing/limited communication aspect sounds odd to me. I like what you did better in mega man where you set each other up and then do your own runs instead of being reliant on your partner to choose well. Great art and some interesting ideas here so hope it's a hit!

2-player was definitely the most awkward player count so far, which isn’t ideal for me, since I’d likely play with my oldest son. I could see a variant where you use the true solo sword in 2-player… each play a card but you can see what the sword is playing too. Kinda like a fake 3-player game 😅
@pesmerga275
Жыл бұрын
@@OneStopCoopShop yeah that could be plausible for sure. But since I play 2p with my wife I'm not going to risk that if it's the weirdest player option. Thanks for the helpful preview!

Love the art, and the source game but this feels like a clunky cash grab unfortunately. Feels like a meh game being pushed out on the name alone. And at the price point, just not for me. Ill stick with the real dead cells.

It didn’t blow me away, but it also doesn’t feel like a mess or a cash grab to me. I think they did some pretty clever things here to capture that roguelite feel, at least in the content I’ve played

@@OneStopCoopShop I’m going to try playing it digitally at least once, give it a fair shot. Watching a play through doesn’t usually give the full experience. Great video!
