Good walk around video! I love seeing these old original village vanity fair type outlet malls. I don’t understand how these new “herbal” retailers spend all this money renovating old spaces and the landlords leave the parking lot in that condition. I know this was filmed in Michigan but it has a Primm Valley Resort feel in the desert near Vegas.

I remember going to this place one of the first week it was open back in 1988 as a kid, and it was beautiful and absolutely packed. I lived in Monroe for a time in the 90s and the local paper did a really good story about this place. When the original owners let it be known that they were looking to build such a place they had every intention of going to Wayne county, Michigan, which is far more populated, and would attract a ton of people. Monroe county officials went to those people and sold them a big fat lie, that if they would build it in its current location that the County already had plans for that area, and they were going to build it up with restaurants, hotels, a small theme park the whole place was going to be a tourist attraction. The original owners agreed and built it in that location. The county absolutely lied and did nothing other than build a Burger King. That outlet mall opened in the summer of 1988, and was literally dead by 1993. There was a long court battle between the owners of that mall and Monroe county over all the lies they were told and how they caused that to fail. I don’t know, or remember the outcome of the court case. .

Wow! I didn't know any of that... though it doesn't surprise me. I visited River Raisin battlefield a few years back and there was just a visitors center in an old house, nothing worth seeing, but they kept telling me that the county has been promising to buy up land and make a whole big park there, despite all evidence to the contrary. I guess that's how they do business in that part of the state

@@PrinceofTurov1 They have a new visitor center; river walk that extends from downtown through the battlefield to the state park; and have been spending a lot of federal funds to improve the battlefield sites. About time for another video?

Affectionately called "the Green Mile" that whole stretch was basically a dead area. There was a nice golf course...now a Ford owned warehouse that brought people in. The campground that is still there is doing well. But everything else moved out. Could've been a great area if the township planners would've let it happen. Follow the money though. Horrible...

@keithcurley7662 I'm thinking now that it is legal to buy down in Ohio, that area will not have the out-of-state draw it once did and may not survive just on locals. Very short sighted indeed

Funny the fast food restaurants are closed. Seems like a perfect place for some. Maybe even a donut shop. LOL at least it's a good sign the pot consumers are waiting until they get home to partake

You could Purchase fireworks in Ohio way before it became legal in Michigan!

I'm in Kalamazoo, and all the new stores are dispensaries. Added 2 million dollars in tax revenue for the county.

I don't doubt that at all. Not to mention all the new jobs created there

Sounds about right. Bored kids and a place that clearly no one cared about are the perfect storm for that sort of thing
