In my life as a gamer (a life that started from a Commodore 16), Dead Rising felt like the last real "killer app", the last big leap. It's still one of my favorite games of all time, and nothing ever came close since then. It took advantage of the new technology to create something that wasn't possible before, but it was also a masterclass in game design - a VERY japanese game design. I was terribly disappointed by all its sequels, even the second one, and I was baffled when Capcom said that they shifted development to a canadian studio 'cause the game proved to be a success only in the west: to me, it was like saying "since 90% of the people who watched our p*rn movie are men, we decided to have an all-male cast for the sequel".

Very well put. What made their games good was being developed in house by their talent as well. This is why I said even capcom misunderstood this series. So it took them 4 years to make a sequel that was overall worse than the original.

My main problem with survivors is that they get stuck too much into walls and enemies. Their path finding ai sucks.
