On my Phlox and Jupiter's beard, I use hedge cutters. I have at least 20,25 plants of each. It would take forever and like you, that is just too much.

Hi, I have a mulching question...I have a part-sun bed that I mulching that is shaded by my neighbor's oak tree 🤔 my question is do I need to rake up the leaves from last season before I put down the mulch😅?
@Suburbanoasis

I would leave them in place if they are not thick and water can easily penetrate them. Oak leaves dont break down as fast as others for me so you need to cosider what you know about them in your garden. Try watering and see if it soaks in and count that thickness of leaf mulch and only add what is needed on top. It will also be good for it to be moist when/if you cover them with mulch. 🥰🌺🌼🌸

Looks soooo nice, the way back. I was out gardening on a cloudy day, and this man stopped in front of my house shooting video coz this year I put chicken wire fence all over my front & side gardens. He said he loves plants & the deer eats all. He wants to copy my idea, hehe. I said this is the 1st year I can actually see my 25 Hydrangeas bloom l. Getting more deep resistance plants.

I’m working in similar conditions as your way back garden. Planting among the weeds with hopes of eventually taming the area I’m working in. I though am continually pulling weeds in that area, hopefully someday it will look somewhat nice. 🌸💚🙃

Hi Soliel! I cut back my petunias but most everything else is coming along now because I don't get a full day of sun. I do need to deadhead my Sassy Rose, though. It sure has been a heavy bloomer! I'm also feeding everything well.

We had violent wind gusts and heavy rain yesterday. My husband was a champ chasing down my clearance rack scores that were blown off our deck and were making their way towards our pond. I spent today cleaning up the mess that ripped through my garden. I had to cut back a few tall Yarrows & Coneflowers that got wrecked. Things look tattered and annuals got flattened by the rain. My Birch trees made a huge mess but they lose branches if you breath hard around them. It will all bounce back in time. Nature is wild!

Hi, am on the east coast, zone 6B, we went from no rain to every other day rain(sprinkling really and not helpful, last evening had to rescue my pots. They were all dried out.) like you i just deadheaded my salvia, my hostas and a few dahlias. Will have to wait for the evening to finish the rest. It’s just to hot right now. Heading over to Loews to see what’s on clearance this week.

It is helpful to see something from our cold climate zone 5 gardens not to mention that clay... and those roots. My garden is around a house people have lived in for over 100 years and the roots from maple trees and everything else you can imagine.. make planting an arduous event.
