Comics really ought not to take themselves too, too seriously. I mean, guys and gals running around in colorful tights doing stuff that is purely imaginary just begs for joke-cracking and irony. @theesitchaowalittawil1935 Uh...did you mean "yeah, fun while using recycled garbage"? I hope english isn't your primary. If so, then I suppose yes would be my retort. I was well aware the plot wasn't great, but was having too much fun to care. I was there for Deadpool & Wolverine buddy cop movie that paid tribute to the Fox Marvel movies and that's what they gave me. They didn't try to teach me orange man bad, or how tough it is to be a minority or marginalized group, or how awful white men/people are. They weren't on their junkets talking about how many lives their movies will save with it's message or diversity. Didn't tell fans they are ist/phobe if they don't like it. They just made a movie, and the 103 million it made just on Thursday (that's half of the Marvel's entire run) says that's what the vast majority of people wanted.

One line from the film sums it up best "Let's give the people what they came for!". Best buddy-cop/comedy film in existence, had an absolute blast! DO NOT go into this expecting a huge plot driven cinema. It's no endgame, but it's far more enjoyable and re-watchable in my opinion. Ryan and Hugh said from the start that seeing these two iconic characters at their best together is the WHY, the plot exists only to serve 2 hours of solid quality Deadpool & Wolverine banter. This flips Martin Scorsese's criticism about Marvel movies being theme park rides on its head, because it felt like a theme park, but in the absolute best and most Deadpool way possible.

Exactly, this is the same sentiment I have. Look, it accomplished what it set out to do - it was a DAMN GREAT time at the theaters and set expectations that these movies will improve in the future because they've heard our complaints. And like Jay said, it's so fucking depressing we haven't gotten that in years and have been bombarded with trash movie after trash movie and constant negativity...so this movie just hits all the harder. Honestly, it's a miracle. Judging by the emotional responses from the fans and actors, sometimes a movie that boils down to "plotless fun" is exactly what we need, especially with how shitty things have been all these years, even in real life itself. Like someone else said, in that way, Martin Scorsese was right - some movies need to be "amusement park rides". That doesn't mean they're inherently bad. After all, if every movie was "Schindler's List", "The Wolf of Wall Street", "Oppenheimer" and "Dune", would that be enjoyable? Or would it become far too depressing? A healthy balance of entertainment and consistent quality is necessary going forward. Look, this was an insanely fun superhero movie after being inundated with over three years of shitty or subpar superhero movies and constant bitching from all sides. That's all I wanted, not the next "Casablanca", "Citizen Kane" or "The Dark Knight". I just wanted a superhero movie to be amazing and fun again and for it to make people happy and excited again...and this film gave me that in SPADES. I agree with Jay, I legitimately felt like a teenager watching the original Marvel movies with this one in the sense that the fans are blown away and we're all positive about Marvel again. It felt nostalgic in that sense and nearly brought tears to my eyes. Thank you, Shawn Levy, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and the cast and crew for giving your all for us. As for you, Disney...thanks for STAYING THE FUCK OUT OF THEIR WAY, you corporate douchebags. You want to make money, then let the people who actually give a shit about these characters direct and write these stories instead of your talentless dumbasses. Ironically, by not putting your dirty ass hands into it, you end up making far more money than the alternative. Funny how that works out, isn't it? Get people who are passionate about these characters and movies instead of executives and hacks who only care about charts, profit and agendas...and people will geek out again and throw millions of dollars at you like the good old days. It's not rocket science.

Yeah, I always watch it myself first if I'm even the least bit interested before watching theit reviews or breakdowns, particularly Mauler's, they're often overly haersh and sometimes even downright unfair. I think it's because they watch so much utter garbage for KZitem review purposes that it has made them really jaded.

It may have been somewhat plot light, but it gave some really beautiful moments. Hugh gave some major standout moments, Ryan also had some lovely bits of heart too. I went in with low expectations, not because of Deadpool but just because of Disney, but it is just so much fun I’m really considering going back again. It was a late session (there a number of sessions) so not quite as full as I expected but the whole theatre was going nuts, it was loud.

@@snarkyjayDeadpool is like Imagine Dragons, it was never particularly good and still keeps getting worse. Disney will never change as long as this generic marvel stuff is financially sucessful, and other companies are even trying to replicate that crap. Cinema is doomed and for good reason...
@SpiderGuy325

@@randomfools808 EXACTLY. Deadpool and Wolverine isn't trying to be the next "Citizen Kane" or "Casablanca", the same way the Godzilla vs. Kong, Transformers and Minions films aren't attempting to be. This is what the critics and naysayers fundamentally misunderstand. That definitely doesn't mean it's immune to criticism. It simply means people shouldn't expect it - and most other superhero movies and blockbusters in general - to be some genre-defying, monumental cinematic achievement with EVERY SINGLE installment...because they're adapting different source material and appealing to an EXTREMELY different audience. Not every superhero movie is going to be The Dark Knight or No Way Home and not every animated movie is going to be Spider-Verse or The Last Wish. I hate to say this, but in some cases, we NEED to be fair and temper our expectations. That said, Deadpool and Wolverine was goddamn incredible for "what it was" (fucking hate saying that because it sounds so condescending and pretentious) - an insanely fun superhero blockbuster filled with action, comedy and a surprising amount of emotional weight, especially considering the massive cynicism and vitriol these movies have received lately. Solid 8.5 or 9/10 for me.

The intro alone literally reignited my love for this franchise again. While there have been some good from the mcu after endgame there have been more bad to the point to like you said maybe Im just outgrowing comics in general but no its always been there its just been a long time since something from DC and Marvel have made something that made me feel good inside lol I agree this should be watched in theaters its just a good fn time.

I totally get the "no score" thing. I had no idea if I should give this movie a 9/10 or a 4/10. Both scores are valid, depending on what you look at. At the end of the day this was fun, this was entertaining and it was worth the ticket price for sure. I do not think this movie will age very well, but until then just enjoy it. This was a fun.

I originally gave this film a 9 out of 10. But I forgot to give a point off, and now it is an 8 since. Because the story was a little messy at the time. Love all the music they used in this film. It fit in the scenes each was used.

Sometimes silly fun is what is needed. I watched "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare", I know it got canned, so I went in with a low expectation, and I liked it immensely, it made me laugh and smile a lot. It was very silly and all action, but it was fun to watch. That is what we need at times.

As a guy in my 50's, I agree with your feeling like you were in high school comment. As you watch more movies, less and less surprises you. So, at my age, you do not expect to feel like this movie makes you feel. I have not enjoyed a movie this much since my very first movie trip to see Empire Strikes Back (I was too young to see Star Wars - New Hope). The buzz coming out of the cinema for this movie took me right back to those days. Also this movie has so much in it, it makes you want to see it again, in case you missed some of the clever fan service moments, which are easy to miss when you spend half the movie laughing or just keep saying wtf to yourself.

I think the reason why I don't go to the theater is exactly because I can't stand people. If I want to hear people cheering and make a mess during the movie, I would be crazy to pay a ticket for that to be honest; but that's me. Maybe if there is still something to be excited about I can see the value, but still, what is produced these days is so average at best that it is hard to justify the price for the ticket, on top of what we pay already for streaming every month, and on top of that I need to also deal with people screaming and cheering and making their own commentary,... No thanks, let the movie theater die at this point, I am good. As far as the movie... It was average at best; as you said fan service and cameos patched together; too late to be honest to do anything for me. I would rather have them make a decent movie and good stories instead of the trash we got after infinity war, but at least I am happy they got your money for the ticket, not mine.

This is the first time in a very long time that I have seen an audience so engaged like in the old days. It was fun to see the excitement, crowds cheering, and just honestly having fun at movie again, without all that DEI nonsense. I think the plot could have been stronger and more thought out, but perhaps that was the point of the movie. It was not meant to be a hugely serious movie, but instead a tribute to fans brought to us by Ryan Reynolds, not Disney. Disney only distributed the film, as my inside sources have reported.
