Great video! My 2018 Ford F-150 had some crazy issues. The dash would stop working. The radio wouldn’t work. The A/C didn’t work. The door locks didn’t work. Everything from the front seats forward wouldn’t work when it started to act up. I would have to literally kick the panel where the BCM is located just to get it to operate properly. It finally went out and I’m looking for someone to replace it. I did take it to the dealership while still in warranty but supposedly they couldn’t recreate the issue. Now I’m out of warranty and stuck with the bill. Thank you for this video. It helps tremendously!

RTV sealant on the rearward of the exterior door handle was used including some stick on foam in the recall along with a bunch of foam shapes and funnels. Thanks for sharing another video!

I had a dealership fail to install a brake, shifter, key interlock safety recall. I had to take it back and show them how the steering wheel would lock with the keys in engine running and in drive after the failed recall ‘fix’. On the same ‘repair’ they also charged me $75 for ‘diagnosis’ of a failed backup light. They wanted to charge me $250 for a park safety neutral switch. The ‘diagnosis’ was actually just a just a terrible guess! After I disassembled and reassembled a perfectly functioning park safety neutral switch, and doing REAL diagnosis. I found the flaw was a firewall connector pin was installed incorrectly with the locking tab 180 degrees where there is no clip for the lock to engage. The pin backed out just after warranty ended. This dealership obviously doesn’t work to your standards. I may have never had backup lights. It may have just taken me that long to find out. Just like the guy in my engineering class that wasted time trying to figure out what ‘power surge’ caused both his headlights to burn out at the same time. I told him that is a common mistake in diagnosis. The 10+ year old headlights didn’t burn out together, he was driving with one headlight until the second headlight burned out. The difference between one headlight and zero headlights is infinitely more notable then the difference between one and two headlights.

Though I believe - our vehicles have become way too gee whiz with electronics and tech stuff, and I wondered why Ford would design the dash gauges & warn lights to not operate at all, if the BCM is not programmed or it is shorted out. Keep doin' what you do, you are seriously blessed by our Lord 🙏🙏 More & more to learn ... PS I wrote the above comment when I was 3/4 through the video ... and it was much later I heard your final comments. 😀 AMAZING!

I have a question about programing the BCM. I really don’t need to, but I upgraded my mirrors to mirrors with turn signals, puddle lights and heated. The new mirrors plugged in and I immediately had turn signals and puddle lights, but since I didn’t have a rear defrost, I have no simple way to turn on my mirror heaters. My first (and so far last step) was to install a climate control panel with a rear defrost button for my 2008 F150 XLT. The panel plugged in and the temperature and fan speed control worked normally. The function knob however functioned as if all controls were mirrored around the 12 O’clock position. And the new function button ‘rear defrost’ lights momentarily and then turns off. Obviously this is worse that the original panel, so I reverted back to the original. I had purchased a ‘Forscan’ interface cable and installed the software (to see if I could program the speedometer to calibrate it for 35” wheels.). I found that Forscan has limited support for 2008 and I don’t believe the software talks to the BCM. Anyway, I found two different tools that will program/calibrate the speedometer for wheel size and differential gears. One only programs speedometer and the other does a few more things. I had to restore factory default on each tool to switch between the tools. They work like a tuner, but they don’t mess with the actual tuner. They reprogram the transmission shifting profile based on the tire and differential gear, but don’t do anything related to the engine and fuel. Do you have a simple answer on setting up the BCM to add the rear defrost button using an upgraded climate control panel? Don’t research this as it is not really needed, I am just curious as to what is possible, and cost effective if it can be done by a good dealership. Being 14 years old, there are less interested in this.
@FordBossMe
2 жыл бұрын
Those have a GEM module General Electric Module Not a BCM on the older f150s Now you don't have rear defrost but you are trying to use it to activate the mirror defrost? It flashes and times out and the reason for this is because it needs to see return voltage from the defrost in back window and when it can it shuts off Look in my library for the f150 / Raptor video on rear defrost

ASTL39 has 8 winds of thicker spring,and 9W1Z-5310-D (orange) is 10 winds of thinner spring,and my original old spring is 10 winds.im just worry if i put orange ones , will strut leak again?thank you

What I meant is: if the rework up north caused a leak on the passenger door handle, did they also screw up the driver’s door handle? Could the driver’s door handle be leaking and be a matter of time before it causes a failure like the passenger handle? It is likely they didn’t perform the rework incorrectly on one side and correctly on the other side.

hey Bossme I have a situation I would like your input on, recently on my 2013 f150 5.0 I blew a fuse for my rear lamps, I noticed the harness for the license plate lights were frayed and im guessing they shorted each other, after I replaced the fuse everything was working fine for a few days until my truck completely shut off no lights or warnings its started right up again but then I noticed shortly after my rke wasnt working, the key pad works but not the keys, also my tpms stopped working and my blower motor also crapped out, is my BCM toast? also does the BCM have control over HVAC controls? Thanks in advance

Yes the body control module in the passenger side for over in the corner behind the panel is the body control module on that truck pull that panel back and make sure that there's no water buildup back there behind it like kind of down on the floor and around the module and make sure you don't have any damage to any of your roof moldings sometimes they take the antenna systems for different modules like kind of hide them under plastic caps on your roof
