I am beyond thrilled to have found this video!! We moved into a very old house a few years ago and it has these doorknobs in the house. A couple of years ago my husband had to replace one of these knobs and it was a fight to the bitter end. lol. We have to remove another knob now and well, I get to show him how to do it without nearly destroying the door. Can't wait to see his face!!! HA HA HA Thank you so much for posting this tutorial!! So grateful for it!!!

I watched it all but didn't need to as we don't have them here. Yeah, I know I have issues!😜That whole process is painful. We have some fiddly knob sets back here too but I only know how to pull them apart for salvage. God help me if ever needed to reassemble one. Thanks Mr J.🍺✌

Nice. Corbin is well made, albeit overly-complex mechanism, that really needs a demonstration like this before I try to disassemble it a first time!

If I gave that one little tap it would have ended up inside the glass case. Then when I went to pick it out there would be a trip to the hospital for stitches. Those old corbins always take so long to work on.

Yes, those locks were well made. Still have parts for these after all these years.

Great information, will love to see a series of the like. Question... is there a way to convert a knobset from storeroom to entry etc?

What are the names of the tools you used to back off the door knobs?
@selock
Жыл бұрын
Typically called a spanner wrench but there different styles of spanner wrenches used across different industries. so “lock spanner wrench” or Corbin spanner wrench in this case

I tried to looking in your videos for I believe the older Sargent knobs with the roll pin holding the knob on (if I remember correctly it was Sargent) but anyways that would make a good video similar to this

Has anyone in the world ever thought that if it burns on the inside of a door with a knob, it is impossible to open the door because the skin `melts` off the hand!

if a customer comes to you and asked for example a replacement key for a truck tool box and the tool box has a code what program do you use to look up the code. Ive been impressioning them or reading the wafers once i take it apart . I would to find a program to read the codes it would save me alot of time when successful.
