A wrestler of his caliber doesn't need personality to get over, he just needs to be BOOKED PROPERLY, the British bulldogs were fantastic wrestlers, they had the personality of day-old oatmeal but they got over because they were booked properly, Dean malenko was never booked properly in WCW, in WWE, he had already been wrestling for 23 years and injuries were abundant which is why he retired so abruptly not long after he got there with the radicals, before coming to the United States to wrestle full time in early 1994, Dean malenko had seen huge success for years in Japan and in Europe winning over 25 titles but wasn't really as well-known as he should have been as a result of his Coming to America to wrestle so late in his career

@handsolo1209

@@theepworthepiscopalspike8260 - How was he "not booked properly in WCW"? He was 5' 7" and about 190lbs, he had no charisma and couldn't cut a promo, and he just so happened to be in a company that had Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Sting, Ric Flair, DDP & Goldberg at the top, all of whom were 10000000000 times the star that he was. He would look like shit being in the ring with any normal sized man, but to be in there with guys all well over 6 feet tall and all at the very least 60lbs heavier than him would be ridiculous. He was a tremendous midcard workhorse who did very solid work and could be a great foil for someone with charisma like Jericho. A guy like him should have been thanking his lucky stars every day that he was able to not be working bingo halls in front of 300 people admiring "5 star workrate" and that thanks to Hogan, Sting, etc that he was in arenas with THOUSANDS of people and on TV being watched by MILLIONS of people. His paychecks for being midcard in WCW were 100 times what he made anywhere else. His profile was raised massively by just being on WCW's roster. A WCW or WWF midcarder of the late 1990s made more money and got more exposure than every indy "main eventer" combined in the last 20 years. Businessmen count the paycheck, marks would rather have a "5 star match" and make $50 for it. Brilliant mechanical midcarder, but I lost all respect for hom for that Radicalz shit and demanding Hogan money and main event matches. It would be like some QB from the Missouri amateur league demanding Tom Brady's slot because he "threw 50 TDs against the Kansas City over 60s team, and even got 1 column in the Hicksville Tribune. Ain't that awesome!!!"

It's a shame that all you seem to think about is that he didn't main event PPVs, you know, I bought PPVs back then for his first match on the card in them. I doubt strongly I was the only one. If most U.S. fans were not that way, oh well, it's why he said in ECW when leaving it that his style suited other countries more. I'm glad they did go to the U.S. I'd not have seen their matches back then at all, there was no internet in the way there is now those years. Those hating him, and his friends in 1996 and so on didn't deserve them IMHO. Dean was like Brad Armstrong, incredibly funny behind the scenes and always making others laugh, but both couldn't (or wouldn't) show that side of their personality once the camera was on. In 2000 the WWF roster was so packed with main-eventers, there is no way a 40 years old Malenko would have been pushed to the moon. Can't blame him for going to WWF and getting paid very well, and he most certainly saw a future as an agent or producer, if he would have wanted another run as a top wrestler then no doubt he would have went to Japan or even ECW to fight RVD. I think he just wanted to make good money and hoped for a backstage job, which was smart of him.
