I had a sheet metal instructor in aircraft maintenance school who was a huge Beatles fan....pics all over the classroom. When I got to his section, I brought my 8X10 of Dino and every chance I got reminded the instructor how Dino toppled the Beatles from the Number 1 spot in the charts in 1964! He hated me!!!!! Couldn;t deny it. Ata Boy, Dino!

Man could he sing, so relaxed and fantatstic. I'm a big fan of his music and my vynil collection reaches up to about 200 albums and 15 cd's so far. It's a pity that it's so difficult or hard to find dvd's of his films.

LOL All of Dean's westerns were made in the US under contracts with major studio's. Spaghetti westerns were made in Italy and usually low budget. His outfit here looks like its from Bandolero or Rough night in Jericho, and both were made in the US. :)

I saw this particular show too. He never rehearsed before the show. He probably had a few before going on the air. It looked like he didn't even shave or dress up that night. And then....he just sits down and belts out this beautiful song. Amazing!! A true professional.

They don't make artists like Dino, ol' blue eyes or Sammy Davies anymore..something in the times (40's and 50's) that brought out the best of this sort of artistry. No, it aint just nostalgiah, though there is that element, too, but mention one singer from the past 25 years that equals the general appeal of a Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra. Or songwriters responsable for stuff like 'Strangers In The Night' etc etc

I have a dear friend of mine who is approx 35 years older than I am ( I'm 55 ) and asked me to do this tune at a Karaoke bar...OK , don't laugh toooo hard, I've been known to carry a tune and nobody else knew this so I did it. And he liked it. And he thanked me for doing it. But now that I've seen my personal hero, Dean sing it...well, let's just put a quarter in the "box" and let the people who were meant to do it ,do it! ( sorry...but I DID do a pretty good job of it though!!)

Wonderful song! Wonderful rendering! I happen to have a CD with this song played by Les Brown's band, and another wonderful vocalist, whose name unfortunately is not revealed. I wish I knew who sings in that recording, for he's got a superb baritone voice. Should somebody who reads this kindly tell me...

Something of Dean's joking personality was evident in Elvis's later performances. Both were great singers and both kind of joked their way through performances, as though they were not taking their talent seriously. That is too bad IMHO.
