As a Suns fan and AZ native... Ayton was the best most efficient pick. At UofA it looked like he was practicing his shot. Now he's practicing his post moves and is shooting a better percentage than Shaq as a rookie. Younger than Shaq was. Trae and Luka are fun to the casual fan but I don't see them winning in the nba. Mainly Luka I don't like he guards by best matchup on the floor and not by position. The sun's beat the mavs because he has a bad matchup with Josh Jackson. Athletic long wings will never fear him.

Everyone was talking about how their coach and Luka were an obvious match. I think what ended up happening was that the media had no doubt that Phoenix and Sacramento were picking Ayton and Bagley respectively, so all the talk was about who goes 3rd. However, it wasn't as if the media was saying: Ayton and Bagley are the clear 1 and 2. It was that they had good information from those teams that those were the picks. Hence why everyone started talking about who was going 3rd.

Should have taken Luka, a playmaker all the time. Ayton is a good big but Bagley is better. Bagley truly has ups, and a full game. He simply doesn’t get the ball enough. This, "viability of an old school center" conversation is moot. If the guys good enough in the post, its not a problem. I guarantee you if a prime Shaq was in the league right now he'd be plenty viable. He might even do better in the modern NBA than in his era. No one could gaurd him because it seems like no one knows how to play in the post, offence or defense, anymore. And those double teams in the post would space the floor and open up threes just fine. Threes are great but its pretty hard to beat the consistency of 30 points a game at 60% shooting. These sharpshooters go cold and shoot 10 - 15%. Shaq went ice cold and got 24 points at 40% shooting.
