Just to explain about Bishops, the U.S.S.R. never illegalised any religion and stated in it's constitution that it's people are free to practise and believe in any religion, however the State was secular (not athiest).
@blazzing_fury2425
5 жыл бұрын
Dave Dave RIGHT, but then when it came time to rebuild/resign cities BY THE STATE; there just happened to not have any room for a church. The USSR was absolutely anti-religion and a largely atheist state. Stalin himself shared a hatred of Hitler of the Jews and used his power against them as well. I’m aware of what may have been written, but what does it matter when the word of one man is considered equal or greater than that. Ex: what about Baria’s rights? He sure didn’t see those in the movie (not certainly to a degree in real life).

@@davedave872 Here's some information from the library of Congress that may enlighten you. "The Soviet Union was the first state to have as an ideological objective the elimination of religion. Toward that end, the Communist regime confiscated church property, ridiculed religion, harassed believers, and propagated atheism in the schools." But sure TOTAL religious freedom. Uff. I mean for God sakes, why do you think this was brought up in the film and they made a big deal about the bishops being there? Because they didn't like religion! The only religion that really even had a mere presence was Russian Orthodox and even that was pretty limited. At most, 30% of the USSR was religious to any degree with a vast majority being atheist. This "Constitution" that you speak of was not followed. You can argue they should have had it, followed it, etc. But what I'm trying to explain is that that was NOT the reality that took place.
