People don’t get what this thing is all about. A bike that soaks up the bumps on crappy roads, with a very well engineered OEM saddle. The bike is powered by a simple, air cooled single with tractor torque and a nice exhaust sound. You can really rack up seat time on this one. Even though it is street oriented, it still has the chops for light off road/dirt gravel… This has the potential to be a long haul unkillable tank. The motor is so under-stressed. They should have sold the comfort and fun to an older, returning rider crowd. The smile factor for the right person is unbelievable on this bike. If you want to tour on the interesting backroads below 55mph (90 Kmh) This bike is unbeatable.

I'm in the UK and after seeing Scrams advertised reduced from £4700 to £3700 while remaining stocks last, bought one this morning for delivery in July (2024). It will be a second bike, stablemate to my 2020 Honda CB1100 RS and Winter hack while the Honda hibernates.

I would say the Scram is a brilliant motorcycle and better than the Himalayan adv.

I keep thinking I should grab one of these before they go away. It would be easy to bump the horsepower to about 30, and dress it up like a flat tracker.

Long live the 411! Even if (or when) the Scram 411 is discontinued, I don't see the 411 itself being discontinued any time soon in India, so the parts should always be here.

Yeah I bought the last one from a dealer in Gettysburg PA. Went there to look at the standard Himalayan and they knocked so much off the MSRP and threw in all the RE branded add on’s at no charge. They said it wasn’t a great seller at all, and mine being their designated dealer demo with only 16 miles on it I guess they weren’t lying. I did see on some of the Scram Facebook groups that people are getting these between $3000 and $3500.00 all across the country. As far as it’s marketing, it kind of sucked. It does do well in urban areas, and does good off road. I’m not sure how much I’m liking it on backroads though where I can open it up. Lots of hills and curvy roads here in WV and it struggles coming out of up hill turns with its lack of power. I did the 300 miles valve adjustment today and changed the oil and a bunch of other maintenance checks and adjustments. I’m curious to see how it’s pulling once I hit 1-2k miles. Some people say it really finds itself at that point and the motor opens up a bit and smooths out.

That same dealer is the closest one to me. Ironically, I bought mine in WV! Yes, the engine gets more peppy when it breaks in. Mine was around 500 miles. It's also important to learn where the power is. Revving it out really doesn't do anything other than make noise. Once you learn the power band it's not difficult to enjoy the roads you have.

I heard the same news in the UK - after asking about them and the new Himi; although the dealer said they are likely to release a Scram 450 using the new Himi engine so we might actually be in for a nice surprise - although I know a lot of people will miss the simple oil cooled simplicity of the current model.

I'm in the UK and bought a Scram 411 on the strength of the demise of the simple, characterful air cooled engine with adequate power for what I need a bike for, namely a second bike to run through the Winter months on quiet, rough country roads while my Honda CB1100 RS is hibernating in the garage.

Same here in Malaysia, just got mine in Jan and the dealer said that its the last unit and no more after that for them. Hopefully parts will be available for a long time as I plan to keep it as my forever bike.

I had a '21 Himi, and now have a '23 Scram, just like yours. The 19" front has made a big difference for me, it's the perfect 2nd bike for me as I also have a big ADV bike for big miles. Will keep it for a long time, 450 does not interest me at all based on reviews so far - I love the tractor-pull of the 411 and the ease of maintenance.

Not surprised with the new himmy as spy pics claim to show a new scram too (but with alloys 😮). Noticed here in UK there are new ones reduced to £3,699 so looks like they are clearing them out. Shame, I like them too and far prefer them to the original himmy styling, although the new one looks much better I think. You definitely got the best colour so it may hold it's price but Royal Enfields don't seem to much here in UK I don't think.

The UK situation is pretty unique. Last year Royal Enfield decided to set up their own UK operation, leaving the original importer Moto GB with a lot of stock. They have been heavily discounting the remaining motorcycles, which has supressed used bike values and annoyed other dealers, but is great if you want an inexpensive bike. This has attracted a certain amount of bad publicity from past and prospective owners, but is a temporary situation RE will have accommodated into their long term plan.

I really don't understand the 450s... the performamce is better but the look is as bad as most ADVs. So why wouldn't people just buy the Japanese ADVs?

@@ChandlerMurielBing There are many better bikes for highway touring than the Himalayan or Scram. 411 is unique in its character and the tractor-like pull. From everything I've read so far, the 450 is just like a dozen other generic, small displacement, liquid-cooled bikes out there, with much steeper DIY maintenance curve. I wish RE luck with it, but I didn't get my Scram to fly down the highways...

To me this bike didn't make sense. I liked scramblers but make one out of the new Himalayan. In the U.S. these are to slow. They may be good on the dirt, but getting to the dirt on a 65-75mph highway, good luck.

Or you could try not getting on the highway for too long and enjoy it for what it is, an honest scrambler built off of a real ADV platform that handles dry dirt and gravel as well as paved roads, costs $5k, is a perfect learning platform for motorcycle maintenance, and just a hoot to ride in twisties.

The Scram 411 is priced to costly for what it is to be honest! It is underpowered(24hp) and is only priced around 1000 less than a watercooled bike that will last longer and with 15+ more HP!! so driving on the highway going 80 will not be a issue with those bikes! The biggest issue with RE engines is they are all underpowered except for the 650 motor they have, it is still underpowered for a 650, but the engine is fine for doing anything and riding on any highway! I owned one and love it, but the smaller engines RE makes that are air or oil cooled are just not powerful enough for today's market! I did hear a Scram650 NOT450 is in the works!!!! that would be awesome to be honest!
@borderlands6606

I think it's mostly to do with emission regs. Air cooled engines running fast are hard to keep within current targets, and regulations will only get tougher going forward. I believe that's why the 350 is restricted, and we're unlikely to see a road-going 500 single. The 411 is probably as big as an air cooled single cylinder motor can go under current international legislation, and may prove to be a collectors item.

@@borderlands6606 I totally agree and they have to move to water cooled engines!!! honestly the Hunter is a awesome looking bike that with a water cooled engine would be awesome if the frame can support 10+ more HP!!!
