The devs making Stellar Blade has another other IP (Nikke) and it has been an awesome roller-coaster of good world building tied to a compelling narrative. The fan service element can only take you so far; that it has not only stayed relevant more than a year after release, but rakes in more revenue than other competitors (only hoyoverse consistently out earns them, and it isn't by a huge amount either; some months, Nikke passes HSR) says a lot about Shift Up. You have to understand that asmon is a goblin and his followers are even worse. The dude is a wow player. It's fun to watch him in very short snippets that the editors pick out. Like 5 minutes out of 12 hours a day that he streams. He just doesn't have the mental capacity to see past anything in front of his nose. He sees a trailer that is mostly cutscenes, "the game sucks". He sees a game for 10 seconds "the game sucks" (the game being Batman Arkham knight and monster hunter world). It's literally a Christmas miracle that he NOW playing various games and trying out new stuff because his gaming habits are the same as his living and eating habits. Him trying out games like ff14, monster hunter, final fantasy 16 etc ... Is like him trying a new food, that "new food" being a nice omelette, a toast with ham and mayo, a hamburger with chicken (no, nothing as crazy as sushi or Chinese food. Or fruit like tangerines, kiwis, bananas, strawberries and blackberries. Are you nuts? Of course he has never tried nuts). He is like a baby, getting new neuron pathways in his brain, so everytime he sees a souls like he is mildly interested because of elden ring that he liked, everytime he sees an anime game he thinks of final fantasy 16 that he liked. Sometimes those new pathways can confuse him, like when people say DS2 for death stranding 2, he thinks of dark souls 2. That happens. Almost every single game shown is cool and is for a different audience. I for once I'm a "gamer", I play everything except survival games, MOBAs and MMOs (too much time investment for games that don't give much back. They are just addicting and become a chore. That happened with Warframe, Neverwinter and dead by daylight. The games aren't even fun anymore but I'm still grinding them out cuz it's an addiction). So all the games are cool for me, be it Helldivers 2 (the first one was PHENOMENAL), Silent hill 2 (it's a classic as much as re2. People complaining are too young to understand and those complaining are just purists that hate remakes in general. The gameplay of silent hill 2 was never good to begin with. The remake seems like the same gameplay but vastly improved, without going overboard and making it completely different), until dawn (the 2nd best point and click choose your own adventure type game. Yeah, looks like most kids have no idea what those games are, so they just call them "movies" as a bad thing), dragon's dogma 2, death stranding 2, stellar blade and especially rise of the ronin (the noob and other souls likes by team ninja have ALWAYS been fantastic action games. They never looked amazing but they play better than most western games. They just lack animation blending, that's all. Rise of the ronin looks like an amazing blend between nioh, sekiro and ghost of Tsushima. Sadly it's open world...but oh well. Guess it's gonna be more of an action game than a soulslike. Hope the difficulty is untouched cuz I need more difficult action games). Even V rising looks cool. This year is even better than last year so far. Tekken 8, Helldivers 2, final fantasy 7 rebirth, rise of the ronin, dragon's dogma 2, stellar blade, death stranding 2, black myth wukong, Warhammer 40k space Marines 2, no rest for the wicked (from Ori devs), phantom blade zero, lost soul aside, mgs3 remake, silent hill 2 remake, arc raiders, marathon, metro awakening, maybe pragmatic finally, a venom PS5 standalone/dlc and so much much more.

Here's the thing, though, which is that the game actually IS about the gameplay. Most of my 60 hour playthrough was just me actually playing the game because it was so fun. I did sooooo much extraneous shit that I didn't have to. I was in shock as I kept discovering new systems, new weapons, new items, new vehicles, new stuff around every corner. The gameplay loop is my favorite thing about this game and I can't fucking wait to see how they innovate on the sequel.

Great game for anyone tired of erratic gunplays and hollow characters with the usual tropes...have a feeling Kojima will spice this one up further and this will be a 10/10
