Footnote - 4 This final disciplinary measure is more psychological than physical. It may be resorted to only after failure of the first two measures and when it is expected to amend the situation and prevent family breakup; otherwise, it is not acceptable. The Prophet ﷺ (who never struck a woman or a servant) additionally stipulated that it must not be severe or damaging and that the face be avoided.

Footnote : Dr. Mustafa Khattab - Disciplining one’s wife gently is the final resort. The earliest commentators understood that this was to be light enough not to leave a mark, should be done with nothing bigger than a tooth stick, and should not be on the face. Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ) said to his companions “Do not beat the female servants of Allah.” He said that honourable husbands do not beat their wives, and he himself never hit a woman or a servant. If a woman feels her husband is ill-behaved, then she can get help from her guardian or seek divorce.

"The Prophet ﷺ (who never struck a woman or a servant)" He didn't strike a woman but he did give Aisha a physical shove according to sahih hadith. The problem with the "final disciplinary measure" is that all of these stipulations on what must be done are not present in the Qur'an. For example, the requirement that it must be a light beating is supported by hadith. The idea that this is something that is only expected when it amends the situation is also not found in the Qur'an. These are all ad hoc rationalizations to try to make the verse sound less damaging. Realistically, if the relationship is on the rocks to the point where dialogue nor spending time away from each other is resolving things, there is absolutely no way that getting physical and hitting someone even if lightly would make things better. Inserting myself into that hypothetical situation, it would only make me feel angered and humiliated. The option should have been divorce or getting external mediation, not beating.

Why do atheist ''reformed'' young people shoot innocent civilians, why do atheist ''reformed'' people tend to suffer a looot from mental ilnesses? why do atheist ''reformed'' people make laws that serve the criminal and not the civilian? why do atheist ''reformed'' people rely on science when there is not a conclusion or answer but it is an ongoing search? I'm sorry girl, I've studied in an Islamic school and I can't agree. After being forced into a marriage at age 8 and living in Saudi Arabia for 18 years I've seen the horror women go through. A woman can't refuse sex to her husband apart from when she is sick or on her period. Sex slaves and child marriage are other things I can't agree with. And as Aisha said there are no women who suffer as much as the believing women or when she saw a woman who was beaten so badly by her husband that her skin was green. As an apostate I'm supposed to be killed if I go back to Saudi Arabia under Sharia law. I hope you are doing alright and find out the truth some day.

I’m really sorry you had to go through that, that’s never okay or justified. However, I do think that all too often Muslims who go through traumatic experiences will blame it on Islam, because they don’t know any better. Everything you’ve mentioned here has an explanation, is invalid or simply misinformed. Saudi Arabia is definitely no ideal Muslim society, and if you had truly learned and understood Islam comprehensively, you would know

Can anyone share the evidence about women stipulating monogamy in their marriage contract?
@ibtissem.k
Күн бұрын
There is no proof needed. The main ruling in Islam is that everything is halal unless it was mentioned by Allah سبحانه و تعالى or Rasulullah ﷺ as to be haram. There is no ayah or hadith preventing a woman from asking whatever it is that she wants in the marriage contract, namely, monogamy. It is therefore permissible for a woman, if she desires, to include a clause in the contract that stipulates she would divorce if he remarried or a condition as such. Hope this helps :-)

@@FreePalestineStopTheGenocide "And you have to treat all the wives equally and spend equally etc.. so it's not so easy now is it?" This is a rule that even Muhammad didn't fully follow though as he had clear favouritism towards his wives and in his last days, his wives felt pressured to abandon this completely by letting him spend his time at Aisha's. Polygamy is not a cure for adultery and men having mistresses. This statement is a mockery to all of the marriages of men, especially Muslim men, who have lived their entire lives monogamous without falling for these temptations because they have control over themselves. It is misandrist in that it diminishes men down to simple idiots who can not fathom the idea of loyalty and are stuck thinking with their genitals. Polygamy is unfairness to the majority of heterosexual women, even Muhammad's own wives struggled with jealousy over his other wives. These women are the Mothers of the Believers yet we expect the average Muslim woman to uphold a standard that even they couldn't commit to. Muslim men can't even handle the idea of other men seeing their wives without hijab yet they'll want Muslim women to be okay with the idea of sharing a husband with other women.

Second of all there are plenty of men out there who pretend to be good Christian’s who are going to heaven, or good Jews, or good Muslims- and they beat their wives or they harm and beat women, and they only lie to themselves but they can’t fool their Creator. You still haven't explained to me my verse: Sahih Muslim (9:3506) - Muhammad's fathers-in-law (Abu Bakr and Umar) amused him by slapping his wives (Aisha and Hafsa) for annoying him. According to the Hadith, the prophet of Islam laughed upon hearing this.

@@ayoolukoga9829 Imam Al-Nawai in his book "explanation of Sahih Muslim" (10 /336) said: The word يجأ means to slightly slap their necks. As to disciplined them and not to cause damage to their necks. Umar ra (father of Hafsa) and Abu Baker (father of Aisha) disciplined their daughters because they asked for extra money from the Prophet which he didn’t have. Scholars concluded that the father has the right to discipline his son/daughter if that would make things better. Nowhere in the hadith does it say that the daughters were hurt or humiliated in any way. And the ending of the hadith when the Prophet (peace be upon him) recites a verse to Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: Nay, I choose Allah, His Messenger, and the Last Abode. If she had cared about the action of her father, or the Prophet ﷺ laughing, she could have been silent or replied anything else. This action of a father lightly “hitting” his daughter, whilst laughing, is very normal everywhere even today. If it were to happen in front of you, you wouldn't look twice. We also have to think about the wider narrative and character of these people, the Prophet ﷺ, for example, never hit nor struck anything with his hand.
