There is a book at the Pomerantz Book Store near the park where there is this metal horse, that lists all of the books from the 1800s that talk about the land of Israel being desolate during this period. They provide the proof you are looking for as to who was here. The Arabs who now identify as the Palestinians were displaced muslims who came here in 1875 and afterwards. They were settled here not to combat Jewish settlement, but rather Christian settlement. The Jews only came starting in the 1880s and in smaller numbers. The Jews were very reluctant to return. Our tradition is that we were expelled from the land after the Bar Kochba revolt because of our sins toward G-d. Go back and read the first chapters of Matthew and Luke and you will see that Jesus is killed by the Evil Priest Caiphas and John the Baptist (a Cohen) is killed by the Evil King. Go back and look at the genealogy of Jesus in Mathew and you will see a pattern of 3X14 or a gematria of D-V-D which is Jesus is like King David.

When the Zionists began making the place livable (and a heartbreaking job it was), more Jews, Christians, and Moslems began moving in. There were three Jewish rebellions again Roman rule: the First Jewish-Roman War (66-74 CE) the Kitos Insurrection (115-117 CE) the Bar Kokhba Revolt (132-136 CE). "The Jewish-Roman wars had a dramatic impact on the Jews, turning them from a major population in the Eastern Mediterranean into a scattered and persecuted minority. There is a glaring issue with the Palestinian narrative, or better yet, the narrative against the Palestinians: people assume that because they call themselves Palestinians today, they have always called themselves Palestinians. The majority of those that call themselves Palestinians have always lived in the Levant and their ancestry comes from the Levant. Just because they refer themselves as Palestinians, doesn't somehow refute any claims they have to their own state. So we have a group of people that have always lived in the region, a region that has used the terms Peleset, Philistine, Syria Palestina, and Mandatory Palestine and for some oblivious reason, because they're re-using those terms, they're completely denied that identity because they didn't start calling themselves Palestinians until the 18/19th century? Anti-Palestinians attempt to paint a portrait that most Palestinians are somehow peninsular Arab that have no relation to the Levant. Quite simply, that just isn't true: www.haaretz.com/israel-news/.premium-jews-and-arabs-share-genetic-link-to-ancient-canaanites-1.8871073 "Saudi Arabians, Bedouins and Iranian Jews had the highest ratio, hovering around 90 percent. These were followed by Palestinians, Jordanians and Syrians, with an 80 percent of ancestry shared with the ancient Levantines. Moroccan and Ashkenazi Jews had a roughly 70 and 60 percent contribution" The narrative that Arabs didn't live in the Levant until after the Islamic conquest is also blatantly false. Ancient Israelites were literally El worshiping Canaanites. Yahweism came into the picture when it was brought into eastern Canaan (early Jordan) and earlier stages of monotheism was brought over from Mesopotamia. The Hasmoneans of Judah went south to conquer and forced the Idumean Arabs to convert in the earlier form of Judaism. How else did King Herod become a Jew and ruler of Judah? Arabs were in Judah long before any peninsular invasion.

Actually NO ONE has any historical claim to the land. The entire region was basically part of the Ottoman Empire that occupied/ruled for centuries. There was no dispute as to who the indigenous peoples were. Whatever the Bible or Dead Sea Scrolls say is totally irrelevant. Nowadays, nobody makes claims to land based on ancient ancestry. For better or worse, there’s a cutoff point around the time of the breakup of the various colonial empires. After WWI, the Ottoman region was carved up into Syria, Lebanon, Libya, etc. and what was known as Palestine was given mostly (80%) to the Hashemite king and it became Jordan. King Abdullah then went on a spree, stealing and annexing land (Judaea and Sumeria, now known as West Bank)... the little bit that was left over (Jordan River to the Meditation Sea was further cut up into 1/3rd to the Jewish Zionists and the rest for the local (Bedouin) Arabs, who rejected the deal. They continued to reject all offers for a Palestinian State (made up of various disparate Arab groups). All that changed, of course, when the Arab nations declared war on Israel, who then tried to return some of the lands seized but mostly without success. They gave Gaza back to the Egyptian Arabs who lived there (Gaza belonged to Egypt, btw). Gaza became a separate state in 2005, even when Hamas declared war on Israel in 2007. You can’t go back further than the Ottomans. So, talking about who lived in the region before 1918 (or possibly 1923 even) is pointless. The Jews have no claim either. They do, however, have a valid claim to the land purchased legally by the Zionists starting from the 1890s. Anyone who buys land (even if too cheap at the time because it isn’t properly valued, or is simply not worth anything at the time coz it’s undeveloped) owns it in perpetuity. Russia can’t take back Alaska for the same reason. Unfortunately, governments and kings and other leaders play havoc with the lives of their subjects. The Palestinians should be addressing their claims to the Jordanian government and the original Hashemites. And the people who lost their lands because their respective governments waged a war against a neighbor, and lost, are the real losers. They might need to seek compensation from their war-mongering leaders and governments, not Israel... or simply apply to Israel for citizenship and make a legal claim (in court) to any land that they allegedly hold title to.
@dylansevitt

well the argument is that Israel agrees to international agreements.. that they themselves knowingly ignore. Israel has no right to continue to build in the west Bank while claiming land back from the Palestinians in East Jerusalem. there is a double standard being placed where they are totally fine denying Palestinians they're international right to return to land that was conquered during war, but yet allow Jews to reclaim land.
@LearnThaiRapidMethod
3 жыл бұрын
@@dylansevitt "International agreements"? What international agreements? Israel has consistently argued that the settlements are not in violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention since, in its view, Israeli citizens were neither deported nor transferred to the territories, and they cannot be considered to have become "occupied territory" since there had been no internationally recognized legal sovereign prior. Obviously the UN has its own interpretation, but what goes on there doesn't really count or apply to anyone it seems. China still occupies Tibet. Russia has annexed Crimea. The Uighurs are still being "ethnically cleansed" without a peep from the UN. Pakistan still has no law against "honor killings", the list goes on and on. And then there's the whole question of the Two-State Solution, where the West Bank Palestinians (not those in Gaza who already have their own state) pointedly rejected the deals (five of them in all) because they didn't think they went far enough. Their rationale was "all or nothing". Well, they didn't get all, but they didn't get nothing either. There are several brand new cities (e.g. Rawabi that was built for $1.4 billion). But it seems the Palestinians (those in the West Bank) are holding out for land in Israel. They don't really seem to want anything in the West Bank in case they have to "accept" the new status quo. As for the evictions, these were (mostly) illegal occupations by the tenants (either because of non-payment of rent, structural dangers or the legitimate owners successfully sought and obtained eviction notices in the Israeli courts). People get evicted from their homes routinely in places like the US for exactly the same reasons. It's not easy to get rid of them, but if there's a court order then they must voluntarily leave, and if they fail to do so then the property is forcibly boarded up and the contents removed and placed in storage until claimed by the previous tenants. Unfortunately (but a godsend to the Palestinians and their supporters), there are many Jewish fundamentalist religious nutters who helpfully say and do the stupidist of things. But these people do not have rights and they are not supported by the Israeli legal system. So if they transgress the laws (e.g. by trespassing) then they are also evicted or have restraining orders placed on them. You didn't know that, did you? Israel has a Rule of Law, like the USA or UK, which may be (equally) imperfect, and you may not agree with it, but it's a legitimate process. (Something that doesn't exist in Gaza, btw, unless you count Sharia Law as the mechanism for deciding these matters. But, then, Gaza doesn't seem to practice Sharia Law either.) :o
@dylansevitt
3 жыл бұрын
@@LearnThaiRapidMethod trust me I am well versed in the legal implications and "evictions" you talk about (I'm a 4th year law student in TLV university). the only reason those Palestinians are expected to pay rent is because Israeli courts seazed those houses. the problem with it, is it's a one sided arrangement where we allowed Jews to make claims of land that was conquered by the Jordanians in 48 but we made it illegal for Palestinians to make the simlar claims. you can't have it both ways. you are blind to the imbalance in power when one group has to speak to a court system that it has no power in appointing while the other enjoys complete democratic rights. you are very confused if you think settlers are playing on equal footing as the Palestinians when the Israeli government grants building permits in the west Bank. the Israeli supreme court has never answered the question of the legality of the conitual expansion of the settlements while the overall consensus in legal scholarship is against Israel including within the Israeli Academia. Shamgar came up with an ad-hoc excuse to not call the west bank an occupation. I suggest you read a little into some of the agreements that Israel has signed on to it is quite clear the Palestinians qualify as protected persons under the Geneva convention. take article 42 of the Hague convention "Territory is considered *occupied* when it is actually placed under the authority of the hostile arm" this seems clear as night and day that we qualify . regarding the Plo we practically had a signed agreement in Taba but Ariel Sharon told them to go f themselves, while funding and supporting hamas that would later take over Gaza (which he gladly turned turned it over to become the sitshow it is today). in recent times both Hamas and abumazen have recognized the 67 borders and Israel has not tried once in 12 years to return to the negotiating table. instead Bibi and his followers are happy having Hamas in power as it gives them an excuse to claim the other side is too radical..
@LearnThaiRapidMethod
3 жыл бұрын
@@dylansevitt Well, as you've studied the legalities in great depth, I'll bow to your superior knowledge and interpretation. It seems very unfair of course. However, it seems to be a great leap in logic (if you can call it that) where you say that Hamas claims to recognize the '67 borders and that there has been no attempts at negotiations over the last 12 years. You're there on the ground, so I'm not sure how we're getting such disparate information. Israel has (nearly) always been ready to negotiate, but there doesn't seem much point if the fundamentals can't be established: down arms, renounce terrorism, accept Israel (and the Jews)' right to exist. You're also confusing Hamas with the PA and the situation in the West Bank. It's just too convenient to treat them as the same problems as aspirations. They are almost completely different groups with different histories, culture, leaders and complaints. Gaza is already an independent state. So maybe the West Bank IS "occupied", and so it probably should be coz there's no other viable solution at the moment. And maybe there were good reasons to seize the land and houses. Who did they belong to originally (before being stolen/annexed by the Jordanian king)? Have you studied the various court cases for the various claims of ownership, dating back to the 1890's and with respect to about 4-5 different legal systems, depending on which jurisdiction occupied or had control over this region? You're the student, so you should be able to enlighten us. Gaza aside - where Hamas has chosen to spend its billions of dollars of funding support on a military-industrial complex, tunnels and weapons manufacture instead of economic, education and technical infrastructure - it seems that the notion of an independent West Bank is recognized as a lost cause. The Settlers probably reached this conclusion about 10-15 years ago, but the courts and the Israeli government seems to have resigned themselves to the fact too that it isn't feasible to have an independent Palestinian State scattered over various pockets of land east of Jerusalem. Better to formally occupy or annex the region. The issue is individual ownership of property, and compensation for property that was seized by Israel and/or by the Settlers. There are "Palestinian" towns and villages, but the problem is that of infrastructure and access to employment and the freedom-of-movement to and inside Israel. Different problems, but problems that point to a different solution. About 20 years ago, it seemed obvious that this fantasy of a Two-State Solution cannot work. It doesn't provide any advantage to the "Palestinians" (viz. the West Bank Arabic population). In fact, it's proved to be an Albatross that has held them back and will continue to hold them back. Keep in mind that no one really has any historical (or religious or "biblical") rights to any of the land. So the only solution left must take into account current, real-world, practical considerations. 1. The people in the West Bank need to decide if they are a homogenous group who want to govern themselves? Maybe like a state in the USA, or one of the devolved regions in the UK (Scotland/Wales). There's no way that the West Bank can become an independent country like Singapore. 2. Unless one is a fundamentalist Muslim, I can't really see any reason why a (West Bank Arab) "Palestinian" wouldn't want to be a fully-signed-up Israeli citizen. The economic, cultural and political advantages. I'm a British Citizen, but I can still practice my Wicca religion or follow a Vegan diet or become a Yogic, even join a Greek Orthodox church if I want to - and live and work in England, Wales or Scotland (if I can afford it). I'm not restricted to living in Dorset if I don't want to. And I don't need a passport to travel between England, Wales, Scotland, Dorset or Devon, etc.

Actually is not really accurate. Both hebrew and palestinians stemmed from cananites people and actual palestinians are descendents of that people remained in Syria-Palestine after Hadrian prohibition for Jews to enter in Jerusalem ( nobody moved the most of hebrew population wich thrived in the province and mixed up with later population). That is a genetical fact. By the way, authors like Philo and Joseph used the name "Palestine" without problems in 1st century. Same for Statius, Tibullus and Ovid. Generally Palestine was the coastal area, while Judaea was the inland. So who are thr palestinians? Just the descendents of locals who accepted the conversion to Islam and mixed up, no surprise at all.
