So true! Maintaining an eating disorder (combined with my OCD) is hugely stressful! I can't even imagine what life would be without it - well, I can imagine, which makes me even more depressed that I seem unable to tackle it. It's like reversing over 30 years of behaviour.

Thank you for affirming that recovery can be enjoyable. I think so often it’s described as the ‘hardest thing ever’ but you are so right - it isn’t, it’s the ED side which is the hard part but if we F* it then it can be fun! Not something to be scared of. I would say though that after ED you actually have to deal with thoughts and feelings without turning to ED again and that is the hard part...

Yay! Another video!! Extreme hunger finally hit me 2 days ago and has REALLY freaked me out, all I want to eat is chocolate and biscuits all the time at any time of day (or night), I feel as if this is too unhealthy as I’m not really having any fruits or vegetables anymore and am eating Nutella and ice cream by the spoonful! What should I do??

If your body wants these foods, they are the healthiest foods you can eat right now. It wants them for a reason--likely because it hasn't had unrestricted access to these foods for a period of time and is in need of the fats and carbs . Your body will let you know when it wants fruits and veggies.

No you cant do that.. if you compensate you will gain but not recover.. i had a lot of binges over months still get them but its nothing like it was .. extreme hunger is gone.. and it will go for u but only if you stop restricting.. i regret now that i didn't just enjoy all the cravings i had at the beginning haha but i enjoy it all now.. my weight has stabilized over the past 3 weeks now .. and i think i will start my period soon again :) ..

I was about to mention the same thing, hoping if in the future other time frames would be possible for Tabitha, even if it's just once. The previous live q&a broadcasts started at about 1 am / 2 am Euro time :(

I don’t understand what the community tab is, I thought it was the comments from the ‘Nothing in particular’ video

Thanks for this Tabitha! Could you do a video on how to help protect our kids who probably have the ED gene from developing an eating disorder? My kids are still little, and are beautiful natural eaters (intuitive or whatever dumb label that means) but I know because of myself and family history more than likely one of both has that gene. Especially worried for my daughter because weight is pushed on women so much more. I know to model myself, get recovered myself, etc. but is there anything else? Would you recommend having discussions when they are older about our genetics and to steer clear of diets/diet culture? Should I be super upfront about it? I just don’t want to be too pushy either because that might back fire? Just wanting to get ahead of this before they are vulnerable teens!

i would suggest having a conversation with your daughter about being vigilant about never intentionally restricting her food or attempting weight loss. my mother had anorexia which was then passed onto me and i WISH she could’ve warned me what would happen if i pursued weight loss because i lost most of my teen years :( it’s not your fault but anything you can do to protect her is so necessary xx
