👍👍👍 Decathlon sells good gear and their product guarantees with a no-hassle return / exchange policy being the cream on the top. Dealings with my branch in Basel, Switzerland can attest to that. Trekking Poles .. I Nordic Walk regularly and use their 500 range aluminium poles in addition to being used as poles for my Tarp. I prefer Aluminium in that although it may be heavier than Carbon Fibre, it is more durable. Some of my Nordic Walking Colleagues have had problems with carbon pole failure .. and splintered Carbon Fibre is not as repairable in the field as Aluminium, 'if' the aluminium version ever did fail. A good share .. thanks. Take care ..

Hi Andy, I’m a Decathlon fan as well and thanks for an excellent video. I did think that you were unfair with the trekking poles though. A pair of similar Black Diamond alloy z poles would set you back £140 so the Decathlon poles are a reasonable price .

I love my decathlon stuff I own. What they always fail in is colour and weight. I know their target audience differs so being visible is key, but UK prefers darker colours. Quality of the tents are awesome but again people will choose lighter options. I've had the sleep mat for a few years now and it's never let me down
@BackpackingUK

I know what you mean about tent colours. In the UK we very much like green and sand colours. It's funny, when I review a dark green tent, people from other countries see them as a sweat box!
@thomasmusso1147

@@BackpackingUK Yep, I think that it is more of a case of aesthetics. 'Stealth Camping' is not as popular in Europe as elsewhere .. often 'being visible' the preferred option. Anyway, 'Nature' could not care less the colour of one's tent, gear and clothing.

Ignoring those white trekking pole tents (kudos for the process - but wild camp in the UK in a white tent and blend in? Only in the snow), the majority of their tents pitch inner first, so when you arrive at camp and the rain is pissing down you’re going to get the inner wet as part of the pitching process, that’s a no-no for me. That mat looks uncannily similar to the Klymit mats, no? The 1-person cook set is probably the best piece of kit for VFM, I’d like to see a titanium version of the pot to get the weight down.

We use all-in-one stoves during winter, mainly because the little stoves really struggle with the cold and wind. We’re yet to find a regulated stove that works really well with a half-empty gas canister. As much as I rate the Soto and MSR stoves they’re still not perfect.

I do not know why they made outdoor products that are white, they say that is bc the dyeing uses a lot of water, but the problem that these could get dirty very quickly. Bad choice, but the good thing that there is a white version and a dyed version, so you have to wait to have the dyed ones.

I'm currently looking at this sleeping bag for my backpacking kit. I'm trying to decide between two sizes as I'm 161cm and the size guide has my height as the upper limit for small and lower limit for medium. I'm thinking of going for the small as I know too much room can go against keeping warm. What would you recommend? Thanks for the great review!

I have a Petzl Actic Core as well, which is pretty similar. I prefer the buttons on the Decathlon torch, but the battery pack attachment is better for the Petzl. Light wise both are pretty interchangeable. Good bit of kit.
