Hi there, can I ask if your Moringa are from cuttings, seeds, or tissue culture?
@JerrasGarden
9 ай бұрын
I grow my moringa plants from seed so they have a nice long tap root. Cuttings still grow but you loose some of that tap root.

I would like to grow collard greens that good. I guess its collard . Do you use blood meal and organic granular fertilizer and compost for your amendments ?
@JerrasGarden
10 ай бұрын
I like to add organic granular fertilizer into the planting hole. Also use blood meal with anything grown to eat its leaves. I add a few more applications of fertilizer throughout the growing season. Mainly focus on nitrogen.

Do you leave the heat mats on them just until germination or the whole time they are inside?
@JerrasGarden
9 ай бұрын
Once things germinate, the heat mat is not really required unless ambient temperatures are on the cold side. Then keep the heat mats to help warm weather crops like tomatoes and peppers grow faster.

You shared your YT channel on a Florida FB gardening site I follow. I have followed other YT central Fl. gardeners and there is NO COMPARISON to the amount of excellent information you provide. THANK you. I have already bought off your Amazon channel and hope to support you. One thing...other seed companies really hurt you because their shipping is so much cheaper or free. I know you cant compete with the "big ones". Maybe get a patreon account. I know nothing about it but know others have it. I would contribute. Thanks and love from 9B....I think after the change..lol Port Orange. Also, I went thru all you videos and am binge watching and listening when I drive my car. Cant find a January planting guide. Only one starts in April. I am thinking thats when you started it. Thanks again.

Hi. I think I saw your comment in FB LOL. Your right, I cannot compete with the lower shipping options bigger companies can do. But I grow some things that you just cant find anywhere else. Only small seed growers and nurseries like me take the time to grow them out and make them available to the public. I choose the shipping options I use, because its the only way I can ensure things arrive in good condition. A lot of people have been telling me to start some sort of subscription service and I agree. I'm working on it. I'm a one person show (I don't have a team, I shoot, edit, and post everything), so it takes me some time to put new projects together. I definitely have a lot of exciting new things lined up for 2024. Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to write such kind words. Its comments like this from my viewers that keep me going.

They need warm soil and very bright light to germinate. Barely cover the seeds with soil.

Well, I agree with the new update I’m in Portland Oregon and I just went from zone 8B to 9A. it’s getting warmer in Portland Oregon. I planted all my hard neck garlic this year only to have it start sprouting early. Don’t know what to do with it but I guess I’ll just leave it and hope for the best. Cheers.

Good luck! The PNW area is very unique. You definitely have much longer winters than someone in zone 9A located in the south.

Great so we are the same zone. Nothing changes though. Just that when your buying perennial plants and fruit trees, choose the ones that are cold hardy down to 30F so you know they survive winter in our area.

Thank you for this great info. I have to do my seedlings outside. I like the green house idea you have. Question though, do yo keep the mats on all day or do you turn them off at some point during the day?
@JerrasGarden
10 ай бұрын
I only turn them on when the temperatures drop below 60F. This is usually only on the nights that I get a cold front. If the temperature shoots back up during the day, I turn them off because it can get super hot in there.

Excellent info Jenna! Thank you my Brassicas I planted along side with you are doing great and the tomatoes so far. Beginner question. I have eggplants, tomatoes and broccoli growing now. I’m in 10a. I don’t have room to plant more in springtime, will these plants not last throughout spring and so I will need to plant new ones? Thank you I’m learning so much from you 😊
@JerrasGarden
10 ай бұрын
I am now zone 10a according to the updated garden zone map. - Eggplants are long lived annuals or perennials for a few years if the plants are well taken care of and don't die off from cold/pests/diseases. Many of them survive beyond 1-2 years in my garden. -Tomatoes don't last as long. They really start loosing vigor the older the plant gets. Fall planted tomatoes will survive our winter and continue producing until summer when it finally is just way too hot and there is high incidence of disease/pests. Mature tomato plants will get some cold damage from the few cold fronts we get but its usually not enough to kill the plant, unless we get an unusually cold winter which this winter is looking kind of odd already. We just got our first cold front last week when usually its towards the end of December. -Broccoli etc....those plants start to die off around March when it just gets too hot for them. Hopefully by then you have harvested the main head and side shoots.
