My property is .5 acres. It was a blank slate. Been working on it for 7 years. My motto is "little by little, a little becomes a lot" 😊

What did the backyard look like before all the beautiful plants were added. How long have you lived in the house

I’ve just found your channel and I’m so inspired. I live in Cary, NC and I’m working to expand my gardens this year too. My husband I have both retired in the last couple years and prices are rising so exponentially that value gardening is more important than ever. I can’t wait to watch as you head into Spring and summer. Do you do. Ugh seed starting of perennials or annuals?

What a wonderful message to receive, thank you! Up until I got the greenhouse last winter, I hadn't really started much from seed. I relied quite heavily on people gifting me things from their gardens (luckily my mom was a huge help with that) and propagating whatever I could. But as expenses have risen, like you said, and once i had more space to grow things, seeds became important. So yes, I found an amazing selection of seeds at Dollar Tree (annuals and perennials) so I have a bunch started 😊 I will continue to do plant trades with neighbors, also, as I still find that to be a great way to expand my garden.

I believe you are very happy in your greenhouse, which accomodates all those beautiful plants . The greenhouse was a very good idea, saving plantlives and being such a lovely place to stay in. . Some captures from the summer garden are overwhelming .

You're right, the greenhouse is a lovely place to spend time 😊 That, plus getting to save the lives of many plants makes it worth having. 💚 I agree about the footage from summer! 😳 It's crazy how things change.

Popping in before watching the end of the video to comment on the nandina. I heard on a JC Raulston video a discussion about nandina being toxic to birds. The belief came from a flock of birds that gorge eat by nature and some died. Apparently, as long as birds have other berries to gorge on, they will pass on the nandina. Raulston have nandina and they haven't seen problems of birds dieing from them.

I appreciate this info so much! I had been worried about the Nandina since I heard it could be a problem. Thank you again!
