What do you mean open-source? I cant find the source anywhere.

Yeah, kinda weird. I found their github and other projects of VoluntaryLabs here: github.com/voluntarynet github.com/VoluntaryLabs But there's nothing on voluntary.net yet, probably didn't publish the code yet?

If there are no third party servers, you are completely reliant on this being adopted widely enough, that someone is always available to redirect your traffic to where it needs to go. The reason the internet works as it does now is that there is a motivation behind keeping servers and networks running, i.e. money. Unless you can emulate that reward structure with peers replacing third parties, I have a feeling coverage will be sparce at best, if not non-existent.

@@R2053 honestly though the people that actually care are small in numbers. A better Twitter clone where you started posting an onion site with interesting info would be much better then saying "to hell with it all" and starting over.

Assuming there is a 1:1 ratio of entry to exit nodes this isn’t an issue at all. But in reality, without incentivizing exit node operation (altruism does not count as an incentive) it would be possible. Data acquisition is somewhat of a incentive but it is counter to the fundamental premise of onion routing

It would really help to see some source code, working examples, implementation details, etc before asking for help. Rather than writing a (for lack of a better term) shallow webpage and linking to dead projects, there exist already other protocols such as DAT and IPFS which can already be used as a base for decentralized applications

How does this fit in with something like the Beaker browser or IPFS? There are a lot of really great, but competing, projects opperating in this space. It will be interesting to see what wins out and why. Will this be another VHS over Beta situation? Or will the superior format/protocol win out? Exciting stuff.

You'd still need an ISP right?
@longnamedude3947
6 жыл бұрын
TheZabbiemaster this is where things really need to change, Zeronet already covers in many regards what this video mentions, what we really need is an open and free replacement for ISPs, some sort of node system that uses phones and other devices to connect up across areas of land instead of relying on an ISP, have the search system designed to reduce load on hardware by providing category specific searching

You're talking about rejecting the capital process which currently isn't possible. You can at multiple points be squeezed and managed and accounted and controlled or just bought out. Failing soft power simply made illegal until established capital has gotten out in front of the concept.

Zeronet uses a hub-and-spoke website model where some user controls a website whose content is decentralized while Voluntary.net is a common messaging platform on which shared decentralized applications can be built. REPLY
