I will stay with the LCD and use external Asus oled zenscreen. But if my screen should break i would Upgrade to deckhd. It's perfect for geforce now 😊

thank you for your video (a little late with this news, no?) You should do a comparison with the OLED version of the steam deck and not LCD (more in line with the title of your video?)

yeah wish i did have an oled to compare it but what i was trying to go for is to see if the deckhd kit is worth doing or should you go oled now everyone knows the oled screen will be amazing and a lot better than even the deckhd screen. I was really impressed with the deck hd screen it was a nice bump but nothing would compare to oled.

Lets be honest... There is 0 point on getting DeckHD. It would be 70% if there is no downside to the product. 1. Consumes more power. 2. You need custom bios. 3. Price isnt amazing compared to OLED. OLED gives you 1. Superior screen 2. Better battery life

I disagree a bit. 1. True it does consume more power then an oled screen. But probably not that much more the the original lcd. But that require testing to see if it is really that much of a power use increase. 2. Okay so it requires the bios to be customized. Not really a big deal. Since it not abnormal use custom bios on devices. Definitely the steam deck community. 3. Um since you will be lucky to get more then 300 for the lcd version.(that assuming you have a decent drive size installed) And the oled is 550 for base model. That would be 250 extra to pay so 150 difference then the 99 hd screen? hd screen is cheaper. Oled gives 1 better screen. True no argument 2 better battery life. True due to a slight increase in battery size and the fact oled screens take half the power of a normal lcd. Now after saying this I do want to point out that the oled is gorgeous screen. And looks amazing. I do say if you have the money then get it. But if you don’t do the upgrade. It still a better screen then the og one

I mean if you don’t own a steam deck, I’m not gonna be buying a new Steamdeck just for the oled screen

Its not just a new screen, its new sticks, new buttons bigger battery, smaller architecture cpu, and a completely re-engineered main board.@@corvacopia

@@corvacopia I own both and it's not just a OLED screen upgrade. They literally upgraded everything in the Deck.

PSA, There are a few extra steps done here, that are unnecessary: 1. No need to remove the fan or the heatspreader off the motherboard. Take the motherboard with the heatsink attached out ONLY. 2. If you're gonna change the thermal interface, PTM 7950 is a really good option to consider. Dropped 5℃. Coupled with a full 50mV undervolt across the APU and I dropped a full 9 to 10℃. Thois translates to higher graphics settings or better battery life, as per your preference. The rest of this video is excellent though, Thanks for your video, JP! Strongly considering the DeckHD!

Just sell your deck and get an oled. This doesnt make sense at all.

No, I have already upgraded mine , Quiet fan, 1TB memory, as far as the screen goes , I upgraded the display via software by downloading DEKY.

For someone who has committed to their deck with various customizations as well as implementing multiple emulators and other very specific software mods, this can make a ton of sense. I get that it can be easier to just sell the deck but you might even save more money just installing a new screen yourself, especially if upgrading hardware is something you enjoy.
